Fake Dewalt batteries

When is Ebay going to act against the sellers of fake power tool batteries. It appears that a number of private sellers are operating a scam  ring to sell fake goods and inflate feedback scores. Most of the Dewalt 20v XR batteries offered by private sellers are obvious fakes and can be a serious fire hazard. Ebay should pro-actively investigate any seller they suspect before the damage is done.

I’m pretty sure that Ebay don’t usually act on reports of this type unless they purchase themselves, but you can try by using the report link <question mark bottom right of page> on each listing, or report the seller as you purchased.

You might have more luck if you report to Action fraud, Trading Standards and Crime stoppers if it seems organised.

You could also contact Dewalt as if they join the VERO program they will be able to get them removed from their market.

Another option might be to contact journalists who report on this type of thing. It would raise awareness if someone took it up.

Looking at your seller it seems they are benefiting from the new automated positive feedback which has been introduced when buyers don’t leave any, which lessens the visual effect of red dots.

you could try trading standards via citizens advice on the grounds of a business seller trading as a private seller [illegal] and dealing in fakes.
