Hi there.
Bid on a private listing for a code to be delivered by direct message. However I won the auction at £39 in the auction and with the £2.29 buyer protection it says £41. On the selling page it says it's free standard tracked delivery. Yet when I go to Pay it's coming up at £49 to pay.
I'm very confused and don't want to pay that price for the item.
Contacted the seller and heard nothing from them so far but so confused there this is coming from. Auction at £41 then says price is £49. Item says it's from the UK. I'm in the UK and breakdown in checkout doesn't highlight any tax or delivery fee so I'm stumped.
Appreciate any advice
Thanks

Digitally delivered items are not allowed on Ebay, they are intangible and are not covered by the MBG.
Item location "may" be UK but sounds like seller is overseas and 20% vat has been added.
The sellers location is shown on their feedback page.

Hi thanks for your advice
Looking at it it is 20% increase in price so most likely is VAT, I just thought it would show up in the checkout as VAT and show me the actual number.
Also on the feedback page it says member in the the UK since 2016. Can't see any other location listed

Even with an item shown as located within the UK; If either the Buyer/Seller is based or has used an account initially Registered outside the UK , then additional Import 20% VAT and any other duty is charged >

Oh wow that's crazy to me. Seems unfair given there's literally no indication of this when bidding, especially given it's a digital code so doesn't really require an import cost.
I'm thinking of trying to cancel the item as I've not payed yet.

Checking sellers feedback should show country of registration

But the issue is, ebay won't cater for a digital code, as they don't allow them.

Why are you even thinking about paying since you have absolutely no eBay buyer protection?

Yes but it won't show if they initially registered their account somewhere other than on ebay.co.uk.
