Evri

Since 3rd September 2025 I've purchased 15 items on eBay.

2 of these items have not arrived. 1 was damaged in transit. The other has "Simply Vanished".

Both of these items were sent using Evri.

eBay’s “Simple Delivery” seems to be anything but, with over 13% of my purchases not reaching me.

Of the 15 items purchased I elected to have 4 of them as “Click & Collect”. Both of the items I have mentioned above were “Click & Collect”. So 50% of all my “Click & Collect” have not arrived.

I don’t think any reasonable person would find this acceptable. It’s not acceptable and it’s not reasonable.

Is it possible to change the courier at “Checkout”.

I’ve been on eBay for 11 years and have never had any problems with Royal Mail. I genuinely wish I could say the same about Evri.

Re: Evri

This is an EVRI issue rather than a Simple Delivery issue, and you are not alone in being unhappy with their performance of late. These boards are full of complaints about items stuck at EVRI hubs, delivery drivers leaving things in unsafe places, undelivered items, misdelivered items, empty packages delivered and more. EVRI issued a statement a fortnight ago about problems resulting from understaffing and system upgrades. If it becomes a bigger problem, you could contact Sellers before bidding/buying to have them add Royal Mail as your courier of preference.

Re: Evri

Unfortunately, it isn't currently possible to change the carrier at checkout where Simple Delivery is concerned.  It is eBay that decides which carrier to use, although sellers are able to opt out of a particular carrier at account level.  Sellers are not able to change the carrier for a specific listing but in some circumstances they may be able to relist the item without Simple Delivery.

You can find out which carrier will be used for the 'Standard Tracked' delivery by clicking on 'Contact seller'  in the listingcand then selecting the 'Postage' tab.  It appears that 'Express Tracked' delivery is always Royal Mail Tracked 24.

Re: Evri

I am a seller here, and literally 8/10 parcels atm are being stuck on the "Your parcel is being sorted at the senders local depot" part for over 2 weeks. I would say currently 2 in 20 are not arriving 13 / 20 are taking 10-14 days, and the other 5 are getting there within 24 hours.

Re: Evri

Hi memstarsuk,

I'm sorry to hear that you're also having a lot of problems. I've tried to contact eBay this evening to speak to a [human] agent. I'm unable to get past the bot. Yesterday Evri sent me an email confirming they would look into my [latest] missing parcel and respond to me by 10am today. They didn't. At 3:59pm today the following was entered on the tracking for the item "Return to sender requested".

I haven't requested it be returned to sender. Evri's tracking system is, in my opinion, very unreliable. How can Evri return an item to the sender after they have failed to deliver it to me for over a week? I don't recall reading that if Evri can't deliver something that after a week they take the easy route out and return it to sender.

The tracking log below seems to show the parcel travelled all the way to My Parcelshop as was recorded at 7:41 on Tuesday 7th October. But on the verge of success, Evri snatch defeat as at 11am that same day they record a delay of 24hrs. At 5.04 it's back at my local depot. And there it ends. Yet Evri were "supposed" to be looking into this and knew yesterday that I hadn't received my parcel. Why are they returning it? It makes absolutley no sense whatsoever.

It's frustrating that yesterday eBay's human agent advised me to contact the seller. I sent a message. However, the eBay bot stepped in and replied for the seller stating it was nothing to do with the seller as they had selected Simple delivery.

The message read as follows;

This seller is using the Simple Delivery programme to post this item. For postage related questions including lost or damaged in transit, please contact eBay’s Customer Service or file a claim by clicking on the purchase history section from My eBay menu.

Why would eBay's agent advise us to contact the seller as clearly the eBay bot made that impossible?

The information on Evri's tracking record clearly demonstrates something is very very wrong. Evri knew about our package yesterday, yet today they record it as "Returned to Sender". That doesn't seem very helpful at all.

I'm disappointed that eBay have not focused more closely upon this issue, not just for me, but for everyone who uses the platform.

Kind regards
