If you cannot post the item in time due to being away on holiday do you know of anybody that you can trust who would be willing to post the item on your behalf during your absence? If so get the package ready to go so that all your assistant needs to do is to take the item to the Post Office, buy a postage label, post the item to the buyer for you and then text you the tracking number once the item has been posted out. If you have the eBay app on your mobile log into eBay once your assistant has posted the item and sent you a text to confirm the tracking number, then add the tracking details against the item in question. If you do that the item will automatically be marked up as having been despatched, and the buyer may well receive the item sooner than he/she is currently expecting to receive it.

Too late,OP has already sold item so they risk gaining 2 defects for late dispatch and late delivery.
All depends on how the OP buys p+p ,tracking number which Ebay will "spy" on and what the buyer "ticks" when they receive the item.
Not wise to have live listings and go away so cannot post 😭.

Well, if the seller posts the item via an untracked service and the buyer is understanding about the matter (OP did state "I have notified the buyer") then so long as there is no reason for the buyer to open a case in relation to the transaction and he/she is happy to leave the seller positive feedback the buyer may well answer "Yes" to the question "Did This Item Arrive On Time?", in which case the seller wouldn't end up being slapped with a damaging defect, as eBay would have no tracking proving that the item actually arrived after eBay's latest estimated delivery date.
