Cash on collection

I’m an occasional eBayer as was my seller. I asked if he wanted cash on collection or pay pal - he said cash so I have collected and paid. It seems rules have changed since I last purchased and this is no longer permitted? From what I understand seller would owe the extra I paid as buyer protection (I didn’t know about)? Can’t seem to find a way to contact eBay? Is there a simple way to resolve this? Seems a very strange change for eBay to make? There is a message trail in my account. Thank you

I would not contact Ebay.  There is no point in doing so and I don't really understand what you expect to 'resolve'. There is not really any way for the seller to pass the BPF to Ebay and you would be telling Ebay that the seller broke the rules.

One of the reasons they stopped cash on collection is that buyers who pay cash have no protection under the money back guarantee.

adding to the advice already given -

As said cash is not allowed and a seller cannot accept payment by PayPal as that would be an off eBay payment.

You have left yourself without any buyer protection and the seller could even hit you with an unpaid strike.

Buyers pay buyer protection not sellers.
