I know there are lots of discussions about the new Buyer Protection Fees and no selling fees for private sellers.
I am a private seller, so am happy to sell with no fees. But, BIG BUT! I am having the buyer protection Fee removed from my sale!. So I am paying a selling fee!
The seller isn't paying it, I AM!
That isn't how I understood the way the new fees work.
I have been on Ebay for over 20 years, and happy to see positive developments.
This to me is negative, and I will be considering my future on the portal!

Actually had 2 tabs open at the time so took screen shot of original advert.

Can you help here? The buyer should not have been charged more than the £9.99 listed price, what happened?

Hi papso22, thanks for the tag.
untimention I can see there are 2 items in the same order, and the buyer protection fee applied correctly, this also includes vat. So, I can see everything is ok here, not sure if I am missing something here or perhaps I didn't understand the question. If this is the case, please let me know, but as far I can see here, there is nothing wrong with this transaction.
Thank you,
Marco

Hi Marco, I purchased the above item & the listed price was £9.99 (inclusive of fees see screen shot) at checkout the price increased to £11.11, £9.99 +BPF + tax = £11.11. Should have been approx £8.71 + BPF + tax = listed price BIN £9.99.
The seller then added 2 damaged ones for £5.56 each which checked out correctly at £11.12, but on a separate order.

Thanks for your reply, untimention.
Yes, so I can see here that item cost was £9.99, then you have the buyer protection fee, which was £0.93, and then including taxes (£0.19), you get the total of £11.11 (£9.99 + £0.93 +£0.19= £11.11). When you're placing your order, you are shown a full breakdown of the transaction, including item cost, fees, and VAT where applicable, then you can go ahead and pay if you are happy with everything. Maybe because the taxes are not calculated and/or applied until you're placing the order, which is when you see it, you saw a different figure then when checking out. However, everything looks ok from my end here.
Thank you,
Marco

Marco, the point is that the BPF should be included in the advertised price on the listing, not added to it. Ebay promise that the buyer will only pay the price they see (plus any postage) and that didn't happen here as the checkout price was higher.
This isn't how it's meant to work, remember how private sellers' listed prices went up by the BPF when it was introduced?
Something did go wrong here.

Thanks for your reply, papso22.
I understand what you mean, but the listing is no longer live, so I cannot replicate the potential issue. I've checked the history of the transaction and everything looks good. Unfortunately, this is the kind of thing that we have to see live in order to take it further. Sorry I'm unable to provide further assistance here.
Thank you,
Marco
