I just wondered if anyone knows if these Samsung clone phones are any good, example below:
256/8 GB S23 Ultra Original 5G Unlocked Smartphone by XIDI Total price £83.
It seems a bizarre price for an 8 gigabyte RAM phone.
Obviously a true Galaxy is around £700 pounds new.
Personally
I've never heard of XIDI.

Funny you should say that because I've just been on a website called Temu, and they have two or three excellent looking phones with between six and eight gig of RAM, (with 64 to 128 gig of ROM) although they all Tend To Be Android 12 or 13; none of them seem to be the latest version of Android, but their prices are you know about 130 quid. Which is all I can afford. I think I recently read that their parent company is Alibaba.

You can read so much into mobile phones and privacy and data sharing whether it be Google or Chinese phones. There are very limited options which are more private. I have an Ulefone. In my opinion its a good Android Chinese make for the specs and price. There are other good makes out there, just make sure you avoid the generic and very cheap ones. The good ones are definitely better value for money than UK flagship brands, even just the battery can be so much better than comparable phones.

I think I am coming round to that conclusion myself.

My comment that Temu is a child company of parent company Alibaba is definitely wrong. I think the company concerned (whose name I can no longer remember) actually just transporting my goods on behalf of Temu at the Chinese end, before Evri delivered them at this /UK end.

Trading genuine brand names also supports slave labour and organised crime.

Exactly when have Samsung being accused of supporting slave labour and organised crime?

I know I'm a bit late to this. There is no "XIDI" brand. They're all made by scammers who sell them with fake specs. The phone they'll send out will actually only have 1GB RAM and probably be 3G only because it uses a 10 year old processor. I'm not sure why these scam listings are still around here.

While I can't answer that question definitively, I am also contemplating buying an S24 at $100 off Ali-Express. Temu have multitudes too, but seem much less info revealing of anything posted. As to the uninformed that say here you cannot sell a good phone cheaply, I say that I use bearing in business. When bearings started flooding the USA market made and marketed from China, they were 10% of the USA price delivered to your door through one or two local importers. All mainstream companies just kept the uniform prices, discounted slightly for Chinese made, and profited egregiously. And they last way longer than 1/10 of the USA equivalent.
Did you ever find resolution?

I reached through Alibaba one of the manufacturers and asked a number of questions which were detailed and forced them to "guarantee" the order specifying clearly, chip manufacturers, lenses, camera sensors and lens aperture and focal length. They ended asking me what I ment when I asked the lenses. This is proof they do not even know about it and not even seriously consider it. The point is they do not want to clearly specify nothing (chips, suppliers, technnical details) that would really compromise them in case you denounce them as non-complying with the orders specs.
