You can only pay direct if it is a Business Seller and they have a Merchant Account to allow payments by card. Card details would have to be given to a seller on line or by phone. With all the scammers on ebay would you be prepared to take the risk? I wouldn't.
You must be reasonable, have you noticed any machines on ebay to scan you card, it is not like paying in a shop.
Only a very few sellers would have this facility and then you make payment direct with the seller, NOT through Ebay Checkout. That is why card payments through Ebay Checkout have to be processed by Paypal. You do not qualify for the Money back Guarantee.
To qualify you have to pay USING Paypal not as a guest either.
