One responder has said you should pay cash for collected goods. If you do then you have not fulfilled every criteria of the money back guarantee, you have done the right thing paying by PayPal.

With very few exceptions a seller cannot refuse PayPal when you collect goods no matter what they say on the item listing, and the advice given was incorrect and against eBay policy.

I believe ebay/PayPal have a system in place where you are issued with a code to take with you when you collect.

The eBay or PayPal help pages would be worth looking at..

If you have no joy with your seller then you can file a claim with eBay under the money back guarantee claim.

Collection items should only be paid for in cash (or by bank transfer), once you've fully examined the item and are 100% happy with it, so that may be why the seller is not responding to your messages, especially if he requested cash on the listing (?).

If the seller won't respond, read Ebay's Money Back Guarantee to see what your options are. They're limited on collection items, and zero if you arrange a third party to collect (should the seller agree to that - most won't). The MBG is on every listing and in various other places across the site.

PayPal can't help you because they, like all payment processors, offer no buyer protection at all on collection items. They follow consumer law, which states 'caveat emptor' (buyer be aware).

@dublinohara

it is possible given it`s a bank holiday weekend, that the seller has gone away for a long weekend, so if you don`t get a reply by tuesday, then follow the advice given or try ringing ebay for help on what to do.

it`s also possible the seller is ignoring you because they did`nt get the money they were hopeing for, so won`t sell it, did you get it pretty cheap?

Either way, it doesn`t really matter, you either want the furniture or your money back 🙂
