I purchased an item which was sent to me on the Royal Mail tracked service. I received an email saying the item had been delivered at a time when I know I was at home, the item was definitely not delivered.
i contacted the seller and as the item was posted, EBAY have determined that I have to stand the loss of my money and goods.
Do I have any avenues of redress here?
Firstly contact your local delivery office with the tracking number they can check the gps on their system to determine where the package was delivered and tell you if it shows as delivered to you or not.
If it shows as not being delivered to you they may offer to attempt to collect it or you will need written confirmation of wrong delivery to appeal the eBay decision.
Given that eBay have decided the case in the seller's favour, open an Item Not Received case via PayPal. Unlike eBay, who only give buyers thirty days from the latest estimated date of delivery to open a case, PayPal allow buyers a maximum of one hundred and eighty days from the date of payment to open a case against a seller if need be. Therefore, open a PayPal case in relation to the item and escalate it after two days but before the twenty day cut-off point. PayPal tend to check cases far more thoroughly than eBay do, so unless the tracking shows that the item was successfully delivered to the address provided on the PayPal confirmation of payment e-mail when you paid the seller for the item they should decide the case in your favour, the end result being that you'll recieve a 100% refund of the money that you paid the seller for the item.
