Scammed

Purchased two chairs on ebay. Seller looked legit at the time with healthy feedback. Items then shipped two days later. I then noticed that the seller started to receive an influx of negative feedback (approx 70 in a day) relating to items not being delivered to the correct address. The seller has since changed their feedback so this is private only and all their items for sale have since been removed. I contacted the courier company who confirmed that the address i gave did not match the address and they advised i need to contact the seller. The seller is obvioulsy not responding and today i have received the confirmation from the courier that i was expecting that the item has been delivered to somewhere other than my address. I now need to report this to eBay so i can have my money refunded but eBay do not make this easy. I go to the resolution centre, follow the instructions i.e i haven't received the item but it only allows me to contact the seller, which i have done but obviously not going to help given the circumastances. I try to call eBay but they are not taking any calls. Pretty poor experince all round. Any suggestions?

As the account had hitherto good feedback, it sounds as if it may have been hacked.

Sellers cannot make their feedback private, for obvious reasons, so I've no idea how that could have happened.

You can't open an Ebay case until 2 days after the delivery estimate on the order.  And you must open a case within 30 days of that delivery estimate. Read the Money Back Guarantee (on every listing and in various other places across the site) for full details.

If you're out of time to open an Ebay case, open one in PayPal. You have 180 days from purchase date.

Unless the seller has proof of delivery to the address you provided in Ebay checkout, you'll be fully refunded.

Thanks. The automated process works well for normal cases but when it’s related to fraud where the seller is not going to respond at all, it would be useful if you could contact a human being to discuss and expedite the inevitable . I’ll be patient though and follow the process 🙂

You can't open a Not Received case until AFTER the expected Delivery date.

Sellers cannot have private feedback, so if they choose to hide the FB they cannot sell.

If you have a Buying or Selling problem, rarely is it necessary to contact eBay as the case options given are fully automated ... open your 'Item not received' case,  return to the case after eight complete days (so day 9) and escalate the case to eBay ... Seller needs to prove delivery to your address with tracking, otherwise you will be refunded ... if delivery is confirmed, you cannot win even with PayPal. >
