If you submit an offer for something and the seller does not respond,can you go higher later

If you put in an offer for something and the seller does not respond in the limited allocated time, can you then put in another offer, a higher one, once the limited time is up? Or do you have to submit whilst the original offer is still on the table?

The seller has not responded at all, not even with a counter offer, which is surprising, as my original offer wasn't that low to start with.

I really want the item, so not sure whether to wait for the allocated offer time to lapse or go in higher before that time is up. It may be that the seller has not even seen my original offer.

wait for the time to pass, then submit another offer,

or just buy it at the buy it now price that the seller has set as the price they want to sell it for!
