If you put in an offer for something and the seller does not respond in the limited allocated time, can you then put in another offer, a higher one, once the limited time is up? Or do you have to submit whilst the original offer is still on the table?
The seller has not responded at all, not even with a counter offer, which is surprising, as my original offer wasn't that low to start with.
I really want the item, so not sure whether to wait for the allocated offer time to lapse or go in higher before that time is up. It may be that the seller has not even seen my original offer.
wait for the time to pass, then submit another offer,
or just buy it at the buy it now price that the seller has set as the price they want to sell it for!
You don't say but all answers are based on the assumption that it is a BIN.
If it is an auction, any bid placed automatically cancels all offers however high they are, but you can still bid.
if it is a BIN, then if someone buys you do not get a second chance, you haven't won.
If you are not getting a responce, if you really want it, then use the BIN and buy, or if an auction BID,that wouldgive youabetter chance of winning. With an Auction the offer can be any amount, below, equal to or over the start price. I know which of those get my attention.
You only get three chances to make an acceptable offer, so wait until the first offer has timed out before you make a second offer. It may just be the case that the seller hasn't logged into his eBay account since you made the offer, and therefore hasn't seen it. If the seller logs on in time and responds then you'll know where you stand - you can then make another offer if the first one is rejected, if you receive a counteroffer you can decide whether to accept it, reject it or counter it with second offer, and if the seller accepts the offer all you need to do then is make payment. Therefore, don't be too hasty - wait for the seller to respond first. If the offer times out then either the seller didn't see it in time or he did see it but thought that it was too low and decided not to respond.
One other thing to be aware of is that in some cases sellers set their listings up using the basic version of the selling template, which eBay often interfere with and alter without the seller's consent. If the seller has indeed set the listing up using the basic version of the selling template then it may well be the case that eBay have added in the Best Offer function, even though the seller did not want that option included on the listing, in which case the seller probably won't even entertain considering selling the item for less than the Buy It Now price.
If you really want the item that badly and you can't bear to wait for a response then maybe you'd be better off clicking on the Buy It Now button and making payment for the item before somebody else gets in before you and either clicks on the Buy It Now button and makes payyment or makes a higher offer that the seller decides to accept.
