I purchased an item in May the seller very kindly said he would hold onto it until we could travel to pick it up. I can't find the sellers details or get into purchase history. Can someone help please?

I can't see why you can't contact the seller, your purchase history goes back to 2018, so you only need to find the item and click on the sellers ID to get a Contact Link.
As far as the seller is concerned he will have no record now of the transaction as sold items go after 60 days or 90 days using the seller hub.
