How do I add tracking number for returned when item not sent using ebay postage label?

I purchased an item but decided to send it back under the 14 day money back offer as I just didn't like it.

The returns postage costs for the ebay return labels are more as expensive as using Royal Mail signed for large letter so i have sent it back using my own postage

But If i view the returns details I don't get any option where I can upload my own Royal Mail tracking number to the return. I only get the option of buying a Royal Mail label for £3.25 or Collectplus for £4.60 so as far as ebay are concerned I haven't sent back the item yet because I haven't purchased their own returns label (which I am sure they probably making some profit on everyone that purchased)

Can anyone tell me how to mark this return as sent and upload the tracking without using the ebay returns label?

There is no option to do that. When you open an Ebay returns request, Ebay expects you buy the label through the request.

The opened request is of no use to you now (Ebay can't help you unless you use the tools they provide), so you will have to rely on the seller refunding voluntarily.  They should do so through the return request, so that they can get the selling fee credited back to their Ebay account, so leave it open.

In the unlikely event that the seller doesn't refund when tracking proves delivery, go to the CAB's website to learn what to do.
