Filter out items located in China

A question foir eBay themselves, but if anybody has a useful, EFFECTIVE and non-flippant solution, I'd be interested to hear it.

I want to filter out ANY items that are located in, or will be shipped from a Chinese seller.  I am sick and tired of assurances from sellers who purport to be in the UK, that the item is sourced and will be posted locally, onlt to find - three weeks later - that the package arrives from China with a customs declaration sticker on the back.

I do not want ANY items from China  in my searches.

you can't stop the ones that have a uk distribution point, there isn't a filter for seller location

the search criteria is for ITEM location

sellers who have a UK distribution point can state UK as the item location as the item is sent there first and then to the buyer

if you wish to avoid buying from these sellers you need to check the seller location before you buy,

to see the seller location go to their feedback profile page by clicking on the number in brackets next to their ID,

you should be looking at a sellers feedback profile before you buy anything, as that is what feedback is for, to be read before purchase so that you can decide whether you want to buy from that person.

if an item location is stated as UK and the item is sent directly to you, without going to the UK distribution point, you can report the seller for item location misrepresentation:-

The problem is that there are just so many of these traders. The seller may have a UK (or any other local) location but the item originates in and is sent from China. All the UK 'seller' does is accept the order and then has the main Chinese distribution point mail if from there. Its a very sharp practice. I want to SPECIFICALLY exclude from my searches ANY item that will start its journey from China.

It would be useful for users (if not eBay themselves) to have some sort of filter for that. I had one chinese trader who sent me two camera lens polarising filters. There were two boxes in the pack but one of the cases was empty! (You'd have thought the packer would have noticed the weight difference between the two?). When I complained about it they offered to refund 25% of the sale - a sharp practice and my suspicion is, deliberate, and hoping that the buyer would just put it down to experience. I don't want these types of trader to even featuree in my searches!

The only way to avoid chinese sellers, or rather items coming from china, is to double check the listings first.
As pointed out, check the feedback, as other buyers may have stated that the items come from there.
Check estimated delivery dates, longer than usual times can be a give away.
Scroll down to the sellers business info, if it shows a chinese address, then the business is based there, but that doesn`t mean the item is coming from there.
At the end of the day, it doesn`t guarentee the item won`t be coming from China, but the little giveaways allow you to make a choice on whether to buy or not 🙂

there is absolutely no way of filtering out items that start their life in China (or any other country)



most items sold in the UK were made overseas, as we don't have a manufacturing industry any more


you can't stop sellers appearing in your searches,

you just have to spend a bit of time checking their feedback page,

this will tell you where a seller is located,

feedback will give you an idea of the items suitability for purpose
