Ebay message to my email asking me to resend payment for an Item I tried to purchase.

Tried to purchase an Item on ebay. Went through all the usual and completed. Then 1 hour later received email saying I needed to resend payment as it hadn't gone through. Checked ebay account and the item has disappeared from the purchase history. No transaction appears to have occurred from what I can tell. I have messaged the seller and ebay. is this a glitch or a scam?

Most important has the payment shown in paypal.

I hope you did not reply to an Email from ebay. Ebay send Messages addressed to you by name, an email on its own would imply a spoof, phishing email.

If the item has disapppeared from purchases then only ebay can remove it, but as I said above is there money gone from Paypal, if there is, is there the option to cancel the payment if so use it. 

All you can do if payment has been made, and no option to cancel, is open a Not Received Case with Paypal as soon as allowed andescalate after 2 days and before day 20 to get a full refund.

No money has come out yet. I did not click on any links and forwarded the email to ebay as a spoof email. Will do as you suggest should it happen.

Probably a Compromised Account. Is the Message in your EBay Message Box?  Don't Pay again. If the Item is not in your Purchase History it means that EBay have Removed it. After 10 days open an Item Not Received Case with PayPal. Find Resolve a Problem down the left hand side of the Page. Scroll down to the PayPal Resolution Centre. Escalate the Case after 2 days but before 20.

Add in the Notes that EBay have Removed the Listing.

The listing is still active as is the seller it has just been removed from my purchase history? So I really am confused.
