Buying from New Zealand

Hi - I have been a regular buyer on International ebay (I live in New Zealand).  Just recently, I have noticed an enormous increase in sellers who state We do not send to New Zealand, when previously they were quite content to send to NZ.  Is anyone able to tell me just why the situation has changed?  Is there now some deterrent to sellers supplying NZ?  I know that our Govt has recently introduced GST payments at a lower theshold, charged at source; there is an option for these charges to be absorbed by the seller, but only some will do this.  I am rather baffled and have had to cross these sellers off my list, when it appears that they are perfectly happy to send items to politically unstable countries.

I'd love to hear from anyone who can unravel this for me.

Many thanks

Sorry, not absolutely sure.

If you had a regular seller you bought from,  message them to ask if there is a reason.

It may just be a temporary restriction,  the world as it stands today is bringing up all sorts or restrictions due to the virus threat we are all under,  maybe some sellers are curtailing their wider scale of selling as eBay are posting out  messages,  that items may be delayed because of this crisis.  Some sellers perhaps,  envisage late delivery defects posting to some countries,  so have blocked them for the time being ?

Ebay are stopping sellers setting options for postage to,

Albania, Armenia, Bermuda, Bosnia and Herzegovina, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Republic of, Djibouti, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, French Polynesia, Haiti, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mauritania, Moldova, Montenegro, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Western Samoa, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turks and Caicos Islands, Venezuela, Zimbabwe"
Also heard Canada blocked.

Buyers seeing This seller does not send to.

Amazon have their own restrictions and some items not available USA to UK.

I expected this when whole fleets of aircraft were being parked up on a main airport runways.

Royal Mail (and other carriers) are not accepting packages for New Zealand, because New Zealand isn't currently accepting them due to the pandemic. I'm unsure why you're unaware of what is happening in your own country.

Having just checked the Royal Mail website with regards to sending items to international destinations I found the following information on the site:

New Zealand - On Suspension

Start date: 16 March 2020
Latest Update: 27 March 2020
End date: Ongoing
Incident: CoronaVirus

We're currently not sending items to New Zealand as there are no available transport links. Items sent will be held and you'll experience significant delays.

Given the fact that Royal Mail - the UK's main postage carrier - has taken the decision not to post items to New Zealand due to the fact that there are no available transport links I can't see that you'll be able to buy items from the UK for the foreseeable future - at least not until the situation regarding the coronafirus pandemic has passed and life starts to return to some degree of normality.

As we are in lockdown here, it may not be just NewZealand that sellers are not selling to, it may affect all international sales. We are trying to reduced the amount of times we visit our post offices.....

some sellers are listing items where they can buy on line postage and pop their items straight into a letterbox....with parcels this is not possible
