I received a used snake skin zipped compact in a saleroom job lot, its possibly made from a cobra skin.
It looks like its against Ebay policy to list and sell it.
But it looks like there have been scores of snake skin items that have been sold on Ebay recently.
I'm a bit confused about this, can we list it or not?

Many items made of snakeskin are regulated by CITES.
Ebay tend to err on the side of caution as they have no way of identifying the species.
You could list it and see if it's taken down although I would only list it for UK postage.
If you wish to read all of the policy, here it is:

Hi cobwebcottage, if I did list it and it was taken down would I get a defect?
Thanks

Hi,
No you won't get a defect on your account. You will get an advisory message from Ebay to say it has been removed ( if it does breach one of the policies) and the reason why. Obviously, if this happens, you cannot relist it.

Elapidae (cobras and corn snakes) are listed in CITES Appendix I so I wouldn't recommend listing it.
