"Hi ********, Let the Tracking Begin" ......

Good grief  🙄 🙈

Why do their emails talk to us like we're kids...?

Dumbing down at it's finest  😠

Re: "Hi ********, Let the Tracking Begin" ......

On the app, I used to get a notification of a bid, and could see what that bid was just by looking at the notification.

Now there is a notification,a small image of an emoji wearing a party hat whilst blowing one of those kiddy party blower things, you know, a rolled paper noisemaker that unfurls when blown and makes a rasping “toot” sound. Beloved by children and nobody else.

I now have to click on the notification to open eBay before I can see what the bid is.

Presumably someone in the programming department decided this was a meaningful improvement and is now very pleased with themselves.

Re: "Hi ********, Let the Tracking Begin" ......

Somebody at a supplier company that I used to deal with sent me an email which consisted of around 8 separate lines/sentences, and each line had an emoji at the end of the sentence.  One of the lines said something like "if you have any trouble, give us a call and we'll walk you through it", followed by an emoji of a man walking.  I told them I wasn't a 5-year old that needed a picture to explain the words and would they please stop insulting my intelligence.  The moronic communication wasn't the reason I parted company with them, but it certainly didn't help their cause.

Re: "Hi ********, Let the Tracking Begin" ......

Its to make you open the app, hoping that whilst your there you get distracted and buy something. Its what all mobile apps do. They are all designed to keep you on them for as long as possible. Its not about the customer experience that was thrown out the window a long time ago, its about being able to tell shareholders "look how many hours people spent on the app/opened the app daily".

What annoys me is I get notifications for just about everything, EXCEPT when I win an auction and it needs to be paid, or when I get a sale. The only two notifications I actually need.
