Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

I’m 50% down on last month. I’ve sold more on V with about 10% of the listings I have on here. After paying fees on here I’ve cleared about £50 and with bank holiday weekend approaching I’m not hopeful of things getting better. This could turn out to be my worst ever month on her since I started in 2014 with this account

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

Same here dropped down to one a week. Then had a surge on Friday 15 orders, then has dropped off this week again. I make more on D in a day but sell different items on there.

Problem maybe is your feedback, its best to respond to negative feedback or questions from buyers.

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

My sales have gone up slightly having bobbed along since introduction of no fee for private seller i am now between 36% and last week i was 70% up, this the last 31 days %.

This is ebay sales only.

I do sell in many places and every where else i have seen big increases in sales except for ebid where i have still sold nothing at all in all my years on that platform.

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

Well I have to concur that the sales have dropped off a cliff.

We have been turning over around £100 a week and since March this has dropped to £20 and since the end of march this is now £0 (zero) so all worrying.

Might end up down a car book sale at this rate.

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

50% down for us this month so far compared to march which was a good month. All started around the 27th march as our traffic stats went through the floor. Our amazon store was quiet beginning of april but now picked up but we sell back to school products so thats why its picked up on there. This will be our worst month of selling on ebay in the history of us selling 25 years on here. I do think the economy plays a part right now but there is something else behind the scenes going on with ebay as I dont believe sales should drop 50% for an entire month like they have for us. Probably get someone come along now and say April has been their best month! Haha

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

Maybe best to register correctly, Multiple stock of new items would suggest to buyers and everyone that you're a business on a private account. Buyers know you're passing fees over to them to avoid paying them yourself. I scroll passed sellers like you now because if you can't be bothered to pay the fees why should I

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

Probably because all of your buyers are paying a buyer protection fee on top of all your brand new items.

Buyers are learning that they do not need to pay BFP when they buy from a correctly registered business seller and they are entitled to their Consumer Rights.

It's amazing how fruitful the boards are when I'm in the mood for a bit of reporting. 😀

And they join in on the business boards to say how bad their business is doing!

But it's not a business, they don't have a company jet or international office and are just selling from home as a hobby for a little extra cash

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

Yes, sales down by over 40% on last month and the cost of sales has gone up to 42%, so I’ve ended all my listings and I’m taking a couple of weeks off.     Come 1st may, I’ll open a basic shop and just list 250 items that I think will sell.    If that doesn’t work, then I’m done.

I'm regularly being emailed by On Buy inviting me to join up. What's going on at the moment must seem like a perfect time to try and poach a few sellers from ebay.

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

Spin it whatever way you want but its the seller who pays the fee in reality. Its always taken into account when pricing. For example my prices with the fees, are cheaper than the same items on business accounts. Because I always take the fee into account and minus it off the price, as does everyone else.

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

Actually no, you are completely wrong.

Whether a fee is added on top of the selling price and charged directly to the buyer, or included within it and charged to the seller, it is always the buyer paying the fee.

The only different being, that in the first case, the buyer sees the charge.

Otherwise it's just part of the price, in exactly the same way that the cost of the item, the storage cost, your wages and so on is included in that price.

To do otherwise, means that you are losing money.

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

Sorry, how does it mean im losing money? The customer pays the exact same amount, and ebay deducts the same amount. If anything ebay deducts extra fees if you have a business account, meaning selling on a business account loses you money, not privately. Am i wrong?

Re: eBay sales dropped off a cliff

I suggest that you read again what I wrote.

The point I was making, was not whether or not you lose money, but who pays the fees!
