For all items sold over the weekend, eBay are requiring me to send the items by Monday the 26th (screenshot attached).
There are no mail collections or deliveries on Sundays, and Monday is a bank holiday where all Post Offices will be closed. There will be no mail collections or deliveres on this day either.
In this case, can someone from eBay explain to me how I am meant to achieve the impossible task of posting anything until Tuesday morning? There seems to be a clear oversight on eBay's end about the bank holiday here...

Yep same here, expecting us to deliver by Tuesday which is going to be impossible as nothing gets collected until Tuesday.

dave@ebay Why are sellers being told to ship items by the 26th when its a public hoilday in England and Wales? I thought Ebay would have accounted for this? - Post offices etc wont be open and there will be no collections/deliveries.
I have an equally daft one this weekend too, dispatch by the 27th which is correct, however the buyer can expect delivery by the 24th? Err correct EDD should be the 28th/29th.

Unfortunately this appears to be yet another clear example as to how eBay's stupidity knows no limits. Given that the Post Office is closed on Monday 26th August 2024 owing to the August Bank Holiday the best option would be to despatch anything that's sold during the weekend as soon as possible afterwards, ideally on the morning of Tuesday 27th August 2024 if you can manage it.
Once you have despatched the items enter the tracking numbers for each item against the relevant transactions, then send each buyer a message to explain that the item(s) may arrive slightly later than eBay's estimated delivery date due to a glitch in the system that does not account for days when the Post Office is closed, such as Saturday afternoons, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Although the above strategy does not always work, most buyers are pretty reasonable and will more than likely give the item a few extra days to arrive in order to allow for the delay caused by the weekend, followed by the August Bank Holiday, especially if you've been upfront with them about the issue to start with.

They didn't recognise August bank holiday last year either - I created labels for everything fully tracked uploaded the tracking and manifested on Monday, even though it wasn't collected until Tuesday. Like others have mentioned if customers are messaged and they've got tracking they tend to be very reasonable.
Tough on those who don't have the tracking options though.

Monday isn't a bank holiday in Scotland. Fuel up (or charge up) your vehicle and get going.

Thank you but you are misinformed - only some areas of Scotland are not observing the Summer Bank Holiday (screenshot attached), the majority of Scotland are indeed on holiday. I have a very close working relationship with my local Post Office and Royal Mail Delivery Office, who are both closed tomorrow and have confirmed that it is indeed a bank holiday in my area.

OK.
So ... fuel up (or charge up) your vehicle and get going to one of the postcodes on the list.

Haha, travel a few hundred miles just to post some parcels...I'm sure some sellers would do crazier things to prevent any late delivery defects!

It's part of the hoop jumping, we're so conditioned to try to please and follow rules that sometimes we forget to stop and question the true logic of what we're doing.
I can imagine convincing my family, in my earlier days of running an eBay business, that we NEEDED a day out in Scotland.

After the problems caused by ebay not recognising the August Bank Holiday last year you would've thought we could expect better this year.....nope! It's not like the August Bank Holiday is a one off event.

Ive sent this on to the shipping team to review.
Thanks,

The strange thing is that eBay seem to recognise a bank holiday as far as payouts go. I never get a payout on a bank holiday yet they seem to expect sellers to be able to post on a bank holiday 🤫

Remind them prevention is better than cure

I am writing an update to this post to express my frustration at this situation. As other users have advised, I entered the tracking numbers and posted everything first thing on Tuesday the 27th.
I spoke to a represntative on the phone, who told me that this was all okay and that any defects relating to the bank holiday would be automatically removed.
Well I am now sitting with 17 late delivery defects on my account, as I did not post on Monday the 26th as eBay impossibly requested me to do. Not only have these NOT been automatically removed, but I have also requsted these to be removed through the seller help page and explained the situation, and each and every defect was rejected. No help has been offered by eBay, and despite being told on this post that this was being reviewed, nobody seems to be in any hurry to help me with this.
dave@ebay - or anybody who is willing to help, please can you give me an update as to why I am being penalized with defects for an error that eBay has made, asking me to post on a bank holiday?
01-09-2024 1:38 PM
If you read the announcement by eBay from the middle of last week, it will take up to 14 days for defects to be removed, and you are covered.
01-09-2024 1:48 PM
Excellent, thank you for the reply and for letting me know - that's the first I have heard about that and even eBay themselves did not inform me about this on the phone, but at least they are doing something about this.
Preferrably this wouldn't have happened at all, you would think they would have learned after messing up the delivery estimates from the same bank holiday last year! As another user correctly said, prevention is better than cure.

Having read eBay's announcement again, it does however concern me that they only mention England, Wales and Northern Ireland - and do not recognise that Royal Mail have been observing the bank holiday in most areas of Scotland also. This can be confirmed from the following article on the Royal Mail website:
https://www.royalmail.com/service-update
dave@ebay Can you please confirm that sellers in Scotland using Royal Mail, or at least those in areas where the bank holiday was observed, will be protected?
Thank you

EBay and their EDD are complete tripe. Item sold today Sunday, message telling me to post by 11.59pm on 5 Sept. So far so good...underneath it says delivery date advised to buyer 4-5 Sept. Please explain as I cannot compute.
