eBay estimated delivery dates WRONG

I sold an item the other day on 12th, Royal Mail Tracked 48 P&P and it clearly said post by 13th, but it also says the buyer has been told the item will arrive between 13th and 15th.

How on earth does that work out, telling me to post by 13th and also telling the buyer it will arrive the same day. The reality is the earliest it will arrive is 24 hours after what eBay have told them is the latest delivery date.

This dreadful system is totally broken and even more totally loaded against the seller.

STOP IT EBAY.....NOW.

Ever since you took it upon yourselves to screw us over with these (totally wrong) delivery dates, people have been complaining on here and yet we still get unreasonable examples like mine above.

If it says Tracked 48 Postage, it isn't going to arrive the same day, but two days AFTER it is posted as long as Royal Mail don't screw it up, although it isn't a guaranteed service so it can sometimes take longer.

This is NOT our fault, so stop using these WRONG times to mark us down for late delivery, but also encouraging people to mark us down for late delivery if it didn't arrive on the unreasonable date you said it will !

I've been quietly spitting over these EDDs too.  Today it was an Evri Standard and a Royal Mail Tracked 48 - despatch 15th, buyer expected delivery Friday 16th or Saturday 17th 🙄.  Well, maybe Saturday possibly...

I've ended up losing a bit on the Evri sending it Next Day but can't afford to do it with the other one.  It's getting ridiculous, stressful and expensive.  It feels like being set up to fail sometimes.

I do wonder if this is being done deliberately to encourage sales but I can't see how buyers receiving deliveries later then expected will encourage them to shop again.  Especially if it happens repeatedly on the same platform.

This caused our INR to increase so much ebay have added loads of days onto our delivery times. But to be honest its done me a favour as the EDD ebay gives are so wrong it causes disgruntled customers and high INR cases.

Of course it is, so those sellers who are silly enough to chase a TRS badge and possibly a 5% discount, eBay can then penalise you for late delivery and you lose it.

It's always a win-win for eBay and everything on here is loaded in their favour, not the seller.

They have put me on 10-12 days. Have had would’ve buyers complaining which means no

Do you mean you’re not getting any sales now they’ve extended your delivery times? Not sure it made any difference to us tbh

They've done this to me too. I just send a generic dispatch email to all my customers now, clearly explaining delivery can take up to 5 working days and to contact me after that. Seems to keep most complainers at bay and keeps the decent buyers happy.

Please ignore any dates eBay grab out of thin air and tell you when your package/parcel will arrive from us, as they make them up and bare no reality whatsoever to Royal Mail delivery times .

There, how about you pass this on Mods, the totally unrealiastic times eBay supplies to OUR customers, when the reality is eBay have as much control over Royal Mail as we have - which is NONE WHATSOEVER.

When I get ones where it is highly unlikely the item will arrive on the edd, eg. purchased Friday before bank holiday edd the Tuesday or Wednesday, I tend to send a message to the buyer letting them know the edd is incorrect and when I expect the item to actually arrive.  I would rather they cancelled the order than leave me a neg for something I can't do anything about.  I officially don't dispatch on Saturdays but lately have found myself sometimes sending things on a Saturday due to these wonky EDDs.  I often choose to do it in the run up to Christmas but I'm not happy being forced to do it randomly all year round by eBay algorithms!

The point is you shouldn't feel forced or obliged to go running off to the Post Office on a Saturday, and nobody should be expected to. It's a nightmare anyway on a Saturday and everytime I used to do it (ten mile round trip) I'd get home and think why did I do that, never do it again.

The bottom line is these EDD are a total farce, and from what I can see the only reason eBay use them is to penalise sellers, but they are also creating unrealistic expectations for the buyer.

Still no comments from Mods, or are they too embarrassed comment on such a dreadful totally loaded system. It's not just me, people have been complaining about this on here since it was introduced.

MODS - If it isn't all about eBay penalising sellers, then it's high time eBay did something about it and stopped giving buyers false expectations. Nowhere at Royal Mail does it say a Tracked 48 will arrive the same day, yet eBay tells the buyers it will.

I never post less than 24 hours after purchase, yet diuee to eBay's screwed up system and encouraging buyers to mark you down, I have a 1.45 late arrival score.

How, why, when I post the same or next day ?

eBay's screwed system that's why, I'm not posting items late at all, eBay are giving buyers false expectations and then encouraging them to mark me down  when I can't meet their impossible targets.
