As the title. Zero sales today. First time in 25 years selling on here. Something is seriously wrong on here. Anyone else? Will eBay ever come clean and tell sellers what actually gone wrong?

I agree with a lot of your posts, but to me it's ebay that destroyed eBay
09-11-2024 1:48 PM
Yes, totally agree, they could still rescue it though however they seem to have very little inclination regarding how to go about it.

Have had one a day this week. Which rose to 7 by end of week
09-11-2024 3:11 PM
Same here, this time last year, 15 orders per day, lucky to get one per day on eBay now. But I did well on another channel of mine.

They were tinkering around with the sell page I couldn't get on to it at all. I've got a few sterling rings to sell so thought I'll sell on here.
kicked me out a few times.

eBay Management are the authors of their own misfortune. Their corporate greed knew no boundaries. Nomatter if the law was being broken, nomatter if their most loyal and righteous (yes RIGHTEOUS as in observing all the rules of e-commerce) sellers were sacrificed to the ker chings of the unregistered businesses and the Chinese power sellers - statistics and the balance sheet presentation to the shareholders at the year end were all that mattered.
I can only relate to my own category, upmarket occasion clothing and accessories, and it would seem, after the squeaky rubber chicken, the used clothing market became their mainstay. By and large the 'sifters' and car booters suddenly were the backbone of a concept that was years ahead of it's time.
And then, many years later, without the benefit of foresight but still giving it a go, up popped Vinted. A shoddy, disreputable Lithuanian corporation who classed all their sales as private, regardless of the hundreds of items an individual had listed. So, even if you bought a pair of shoes that were new without box, but the heels had craters akin to a volcano in them, it was up to the seller whether they accepted the return, and if they did, the hapless buyer had to pay return postage. Oh, and the seller protection offered, does not, most definitely does not, exist.
I will never sell on Vinted. It may sound crass, but if eBay cannot pull itself around from this, and there is no reason why they shouldn't, if only they heed some of the advice on these boards, then my stuff will go to landfill.
I can take the hit. Just less for the kid's inheritance.

I'd answer, but I can't afford a postcard. Suggest you ask the private seller that's taking all my sales - they're making enough to buy Royal Mail.

Zero sales since Sunday morning and 13 days of Zero sales in the last month. It is so so soooooo quiet, i have never known anything like it. Page views are down about 25% since August. I know people are struggling with bills , many are waiting for Black Friday and they must be spending more in shops or other platforms. I am getting a few sales on another platform but to get hardly any sales here this last month.
I know many others of you are in a similar boat so i know its not just me but It seems to me that the tactic of getting more private sellers hasn't worked as they are obviously not spending or if they are they are buying from other private sellers.
It is no really viable anymore to sell on here with the fees, plus postage costs and then they expect promotion as well. I took loads of my listings off promo's and i was doing fairly well with that strategy until mid September then everything dropped. I have put a few selected items back on a low promo rate to see what difference it makes but it hasnt really.
Either my listings are not being seen, or the traffic just isnt on the site. About a third of my page views are coming from external sites apparently so where are the Ebay customers? Are people fed up with waiting for items to come from Royal Mail and going more to shops? Or just not spending yet?
Personally i have just had to buy Birthday presents for my son which is next week and then im waiting for Black Friday to get his main Xmas stuff. So i am waiting! I think we will see a mad three weeks from last week November and Royal Mail etc wont be able to cope and we will be plagued with items not arrived yet messages. The calm before the storm? I hope we at least to see some sort of Christmas rush

I relied on promoted listings for years giving ebay upto 20% but the problem is that includes 20% of postage and any non UK fees ... it was getting a joke... they were earning more on a sale than me!
Now doing coupons ... giving the 20% to the buyers and i think its working, certainly Ebay have had less in fees from me which I makes me happy

Yes same here one order Tues morning and nothing since,
No messages , no orders , no nothing
First time in 20 odd years
13-11-2024 11:22 AM
I agree with you, i was finding the same, Ebay was getting about 35 - 38% of my selling price when promoting at their higher rates 8 - 12 % its ridiculous, you cant run a business like that. I run coupons and discounts too which usually help a bit. It seems either way we have to make it look like we are running offers or sales for people to buy these days. I am so annoyed with Ebays latest moves that i would rather give the customer the discount than give Ebay more promo fees.

Hate to be a downer but we really don't believe there will be any christmas rush. I get the black friday thing but black fridays have been running for many years and we still had many orders BEFORE black friday. I believe people are shopping in physical shops and mainly Amazon.

Just what I was having a look on the community board to check if anyone else has the same - zero sales. Less than Christmas Day so far!!!
13-11-2024 8:20 PM
It’s over for eBay I’m afraid to say
14-11-2024 2:43 PM
People used to start buying Christmas gifts from mid October onwards, i used to see an up tick in sales from Mid October and as i used to work in retail shops that was how things USED to be. Things have definately changed.
I see daily marketing emails from Etsy looking rather fab and showing nice unique gift items so i am sure they are probably doing well. Its about time i got my Etsy shop sorted out.
The good news is i actually got 2 sales yesterday, one from a returning customer and one from a new customer. So that was a 200% increase on the week since Sunday. Not enough to cover any bills or my shop fees.
However no sales again so far today and im down 33.9% on last month (which was also terrible) and 56 % down on same time last year as it currently stands. I am about a third of my listings promoted mostly at a low rate 2 - 5%.
I agree with you i think it will be black Friday in shops and online for getting deals and then mostly in shops for last minute gifts. I think people are also feeling how unreliable Royal Mail is becoming which isn't helping us at all either.

Hi I am a private seller ( 17yrs) and I can assure you that many of us are experiencing the very same thing - no views , or messages of interest or offers & zero sales for weeks on end. Then perhaps a little influx of 1 to 3 sales , then back to square one and this has been going on for months not just the last few weeks.
All the new implementations glitch or do not work , full stop.
There is something seriously wrong with this platform.
I take my hat off to business sellers, you would think they would listen to its " customers" after all Ebays success started with the " little people" and without will fall from a great height - unless they just want china business to overtake the market? But what do I know, I have bought more than I have sold over the years so ebay has had their moneys worth from me .
Finding it tiresome and what was once a hobby has become stressful and frustrating.
Years back you could have a nice " conversation " in messaging with other sellers or even buyers, but even that has gone.
I find people so often just rude! Sadly.
14-11-2024 3:49 PM
I don't think people are deliberately rude, fed up and frustrated perhaps, probably because they have a pile of cash tied up in stock that isn't moving, they are happy to work hard, but nothing is happening anymore. There becomes a point were people worry about paying bills etc.
Those people on here have my sympathy, because ebay has changed and they can't do much about it.
14-11-2024 3:56 PM
This is what i do and think.....
Yes i do mainly buy from physical shops especially when it comes to clothes. I love a particular brand who have shops everywhere. I go into the store because depending on the style i can be two different sizes so do not really want to buy online and have the hassle of returning items.
IF i buy online then its usually direct from the retailers official site.
Why do i not buy a lot more from Ebay? The honest answer is there are too many fake items being offered and also what a seller regards as excellent condition is often not my interpretation 😞
14-11-2024 4:02 PM
I think some people are just rude - but agree not all, many are fed up and probably worried if their businesses are going down and overheads more than sales, I feel for them very much.
Many private sellers use ebay to supplement income and often are working two or more jobs too to pay bills.
I dislike to see comments against either business/private- it is causing a division and there is no need... we are all human just trying to do our best in life... and deal with what ebay decide what changes are " best for us?"...or is it for " them and their shareholders?"
14-11-2024 4:08 PM
With respect, "I dislike to see comments against either business/private", you will find it's neither, it's businesses masquerading as private sellers that people on here are shall we use the word, cheesed of with, as it breaks laws and ebay is, well.......... make your own mind up on that part.
In my life i've seen a lot of businesses come and go, i could be wrong, i have been before, but i can see ebay having another round of job layoffs and entering decline.
