What is the Point of an Ebay Message when Item Does not Sell

Is this something new today? We have always had an email when an auction item didn't sell but from today I am also getting a message in my eBay messages. I really cannot see the point of this.

Do you know you can turn these off?

What is the Point of an Ebay Message when Item Does not Sell

"Do you know you can turn these off?"

Except this doesn't work. I have "Item did not sell" unselected under Selling Activity but this does not prevent those really stupid "It’s time to relist" emails being sent when one of my auctions doesn't get a bid. If those emails included the eBay item ID they could be useful for unsold item management, but eBay removed the eBay ID from the emails a while back making them completely useless to me.

I'm not sure the Communication Preferences are really supported by eBay anymore. Marco recently confirm the idiotic new "Great news, you received a bid on your item." wave of spam emails were unconfigurable. He did try to put in an exemption for my account, but it didn't work. I filter them into junk to prevent getting more than a hundred completely pointless spam emails every week.

eBay REALLY need to do better on things like this.
