Tech support says :messages to upgrade from a private to business account have been sent by mistake

I had a message yesterday on my private selling account and an email, to say that I needed to upgrade from a private seller to a business account, I called eBay this morning to ask about various things with regards to upgrading to a business account and the tech support person said....No need to, the emails have all been sent out by mistake.

I asked will I receive an email to confirm it was a mistake, they said no, but they are currently working on the issue.

The tech support person did say, if I received a 2nd email to say I needed to upgrade to a business account, then it would be best to call back and confirm if I do need to upgrade, but the 1st email as been sent out to many, many private sellers and they have no need to upgrade to a business account.

What is the income a seller gets to be forced to a business account. and if you do get propmted to becomea buiness can you wait for this to go?

Ebay won't disclose if there's a particular amount or anything else that triggers it. You're either trading or you're not anyway, so it's nothing to do with amounts earnt. Once they tell you to switch, it won't go away, they just gradually restrict your account if you ignore it.

I take it you are registered with HMRC; if not and I were you I would be more concerned with getting your house in order concerning your tax liabilities.  That's quite a collection of Lenovo think pads you are offloading - at least 28 sales in one month and at least 175 in the last six months.

Business registration is UK law if you are buying to sell, refurbishing, or making to sell - not an option.  You were previously trading illegally with an illegal returns policy amongst others.  It is also doubtful that your claimed warranty would be honoured as they are not normally transferable.

Because you have sold 18 of your first listing. And have 7 available of your second.

That is why you ARE a business.

You don't have on of your own collection you appear to be buying to sell 

That will be why you got the message.

These are copies i make per someone buying, this is a grey area, the midi files also burn to cd aswell as the movie, which is no longer available due the nature of the story, Government banned it, its about the globalists take over so i again burn each one individually

@cobinoas_8  eBay have asked you to register as a business because you are operating as one.  'Burning movies' onto a DVD or  memory stick for sale (you have sold 18 of this movie at the last count) constitutes running a business.

You should be more concerned about any copyright laws you may have broken.  It can result in the movie distributor's lawyers coming after you for reparation.

A private account is for selling YOUR OWN items thing you have loved and cherished but no longer need.

A business if you make thing or buy things (new or used) with the intention of selling profit does not come into it many businesses sell older stock at a loss to convert back into some cash. Makes better sense than just giving it away.

But what is Definitely not allowed was what you attempted to do.

We do want people to sell just do it in the correct way on the correct account.
