Suspicious buyer - Should I cancel their order?

A while ago I sold an item which the buyer claimed it hadn't arrived. I replied in good time and sent the buyer several messages, which they were very slow to respond to. Their responses made me somewhat suspicious that this wasn't a genuine claim.

After a number of exchanges they stopped answering questions and left a neg in which they claimed I hadn't responded for 5 days (a lie, since I'd actually responded the very next day and had to wait several days for them to respond). They also claimed I'd accused them of fraud (another lie) and that I hadn't apologised (yet another lie). They said they still hadn't received the item and that I was "nasty".

However, I've noticed they've just placed another, which is very strange. Why would you buy again from a seller that you "haven't received your order from", accuses you of "fraud", and is "nasty"? It doesn't make sense.

I don't want to sell to this person as they seem like trouble and I can already feel another, "Item not received" claim coming. Trouble is, I didn't realise who it was and have already paid the postage.

What is the best way forward with this?

You can cancel the transaction and cancel the postage here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/claims/simple-delivery/refund/seller

And put their ID on your blocked bidder list:

Suspicious buyer - Should I cancel their order?

Thanks. I'd already put them on my blocked list as soon as I realised who they were.

I'm just concerned they might leave another neg if I cancel the order.

You need to take some responsibility for trading online.

It is up to you to investigate lost items and refund your buyer ( with no hassle).

Although you have started a thread on the Business Seller Boards, you are registered as a private seller.

You have sold 622 of the same item with no returns and no online tracking.

Not trying to scare you but you have a lot more to worry about with this customer than neg feedback, they have paid so you have passed fees over to them to pay. You really should check up on the new powers the CMA have when it comes to fees. Will be hard to convince them you're a real private seller when you have already sold over 600 of the same item all new. Might want to look at changing account to business, you sell 1 item so would only cost 36p a month to list it and the fees you pay on a sale would be less than the fees you're passing over to the customer plus you will be legal then and would have no worry

adding to the advice already given -

"They also claimed I'd accused them of fraud (another lie)"

From your response to their neg -

"SPECIFICALLY apologised for any inconvenience if you were a genuine claimant"

That's, at the very least, suggesting they might be fraudulent.
