Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

People may not know this, if your item sold and listed with the simple delivery option. You can not make any changes to the Postal service or change the time from 48 to 24 or even try to see the buyers address. Not possible!

The only way is to Cancel the listing and select Custom postage from the Ebay App. ( not using a pc). Also ebay will not refund the simple delivery label cost if the seller chooses not to use it if a listing is not cancelled and the seller some how uses their own postage label without cancelling the sale. (Ebay have become very unfair platform now)

If the Simple Delivery label isn't used, the cost is refunded automatically by eBay (I seem to remember within 30 days). As the buyer usually pays for postage, they will get the refund. However, if you choose to offer "free" postage with Simple Delivery you would get the refunds for unused labels instead.

You have posted on the business seller board,  business sellers don't have Simple Delivery.

For private sellers Ebay will refund an unused Simple Delivery label to the buyer, if they paid for it.

Custom postage for private sellers is being phased out for most listings.

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

Hi @aymanalvi ,

Thank you for your post.

As it has been correctly advised by other members on this thread unused simple delivery labels are automatically refunded. It can take up to 30 days but refunds for unused Simple Delivery labels go back to who paid for them. If the buyer paid for the postage then the refund automatically goes back to the buyer. If free postage was offered and the seller paid, the refund automatically goes back to the seller.

Thank you,

Kat

I am currently out of the office and will return on the 23rd of April. Please expect a delay in my reply

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

It is so sad to learn how disconnected you are from the actual system and mis advising ebay users hence Ebay is going down hill. Firstly Buyer pays the seller to post the item. Its the sellers responsibility how the item is posted to the buyer as the buyer has PAID. Now about refunding postage. So if the simple delivery is not used there is NO WAY to use another label because once the simple delivery is clicked the QR code is locked and must be used. Unable to change anything and if the buyer wants the item next day the seller  can not amend anything or cancel it.  The seller then uses their own funds to post the item without having any funds sent by the buyer because Ebay have put a hold and the seller has posted the item. Simple Delivery NOT USED but the seller has posted the item. Now EBAY starting to control sellers and refunding postage back to the buyer (WHY? I ask) the seller has posted the item using external route because ebay have locked postage to simple delivery which is a CON. Seller looses postage even though the buyer wants to pay. You call that FAIR? Ebay have really messed this up and there is no good explaination other than to fix the Process and the process CODE that runs on Ebay.

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

Just don’t use ebay for postage. You can use the Royal Mail app and mark as posted on ebay. That way you can choose what is best for you and your customers.

ebay don’t care so no point even bothering to complain.

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

You can’t postage option must be selected unless your doing free postage which I do not and if using the Ebay app then simple delivery is quitely added by Ebay and then the fun begins and ebay take control of your life.

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

Just thinking out loud, but could you not increase your item's price by the cost of shipping, then set your item to Free Postage to get around it? I know it isn't ideal, but it might work.

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

I think that it is you who is disconnected.

Simple delivery is mandatory for private sellers now.

Unless the item falls outside of the remit for simple delivery, then you have no option but to use that label.

So, ebay mandate that you must use their system to deliver to the customer.

If you are not using it and are using your own label, then frankly, more fool you.

You are the one who is trying to work outside of the system, which is why you are having issues.

The seller is not charged the postage, the BUYER is!

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

Under simple delivery even if you “offer free postage” you are billed for a SD label generated by ebay

one downside to free postage here is if buyer selects express delivery (ie tracked 24 instead of 48) you will have to cough up ..something you have no control over  when listing  but eBay give buyers the option to select

unless you put in your description only chose standard delivery or something and hope it gets read

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

Thank you so much for your help but I am not the user when ebay say jump I say how high, I am not happy with Ebay and the way they are heading making users find work arounds. Ebay need to listen to the people. User should explain to ebay. It does not need to be this way. Why is Ebay making life so difficult

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

Ebay is not the platform it used to be, Ebay are paying their employees to make changes because they are getting paid. So they work on Problem - Reaction - Solution. If there is nothing wrong create a problem then listen to the users and try to fix something that was never their in the first place. Once all the noise is in the air they send a fix to a problem Ebay created in the first place and someone gets paid to make this all happen because Ebay will not pay staff for sitting around.

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

sorry
My post no 5 was wrong, ignore (should be more time to edit )

From the help pages

If your buyer selects an express delivery service instead, they'll pay the full delivery cost, and you won't be charged.

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

Firstly, although you may have a private account, you have posted on the business sellers' board from a business account. Business accounts are not being forced to adopt Simple Delivery.

Secondly, you have been given good advice in this thread, including a perfectly clear response from kat@eBay  and a decent workaround suggestion from @edwardian-dreams . If you offer "free" postage in SD, and use your own postage methods, you will be refunded the cost of the unused SD label.

I'm not a big fan of Simple Delivery, and I don't think many people are, but I don't think this particular point could be made much clearer.

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

I'm sorry for you OP.

Yes this is the Business section but if Business Sellers think SD won't be coming for them also they are a braver man than I.

You are correct OP, once a listing is live, there is zero ways to change a label. So if you fail to fully package up an item before listing you are in trouble.

You have only 2 options; cancel the sale, or stump up the money for a new label.

If the label is wrong due to an Ebay error, you might get a refund down the line, but I very much doubt it. If Ebay don't think it is their error, you will have to pay.

All of which could have been avoided if the Seller had not been forced into a one time only label the moment they click the button to list an item.

I'm yet another multi decade Seller, both Business and Private who is leaving Ebay when my current listing's are done.

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

I am glad to learn we are in the same page. I am not looking for work arounds. I am making people aware so Ebay sellers can see why the sales are slow. Your business depends on private users. Your not selling B2B your B2C. Thats where ebay are making a mess with Buyer protection. Are you saying business sellers selling to buyers without buyer protection?

Re: Simple Delivery Labels are not refunded if not used.

Appreciate your honesty. Ebay has not thought this threw. It suprises me how ebay recruite people because based on Business seller things used to be good but now sales have slumped users are closing accounts and barely getting any views on items. Ebay are dishing out promo codes for buyers. Its like fixing a leak with blutac of the leak they created in the first place. All businesses evolve with Private users mostly if ebay loose private users buyers or sellers very little will be sold here.
