I sell (and buy), computer parts. Specifically for laptops. When I search for specific parts, i.e. Asus UX4305m hinge, I just get a load of other utterly random laptops. In this case I got 17 results, none of which are suitable. Is it just me or is search completely broken? Am I doing it wrong?
I'm basically searching on google to get E-bay results. That cant be what they want?

No it is not just you. I have a search for Cassandra Clare title only - she is an author. Todays results included
Mary King The Autobiography Signed
The Desolate Garden By Danny Kemp Signed
Mary E. Pearson The Courting of Bristol Keats (Hardback)
in the first 60 results.

Since replying to this message the above three titles are now sponsored items on my summary page.

You can force a keyword by quoting it. E.g. Asus "UX4305m" hinge requires UX4305m to be matched - and currently returns no results. The same applies if you change the sort order on Asus UX4305m hinge. The default of "Best Match" seems to be a loose match method, the others, strict. Then there's the times it brings back matches and you don't know why. Sometimes it turns out it's because it's matched something in the item specifics, sometimes it remains a mystery!

Interestingly, this issue is no longer occurring and search seems to be working as expected.

I constantly get streamlined & gobbledygook results when searching for specific items, yet as you say, when searching for the same thing on google, I get links to what I am looking for on ebay. The ebay searches used to be very good, but due to constant ‘improvements’ things have gone very much downhill.
