One company I worked for had a 'Document Disposal' week every year. We had to dispose of all electronic files and paper documents that had reached their mandated disposal date.
We were told to put non-confidential documents in the disposal black sacks, and confidential documents in the clear sacks.
When we questioned the logic of this, we were told that clear sacks were more costly than black sacks so, as there were more non-confidential documents, it would save money to use the clear sacks for confidential.
Bean counter logic.

Just spoke to my postie who said they've been told to focus on tracked and special and leave everything else. He said the pile of non tracked post for the estate i live on (about 300 houses) is well over 1000 and they're just going to deliver it all together... what a joke.

Once, 2 decades ago, I found the postie had put through my letterbox a suspiciously large number of Christmas cards addressed to others on the estate. I delivered them; happened again, ditto. (It had happened on a small scale, a few years before, briefly, not at Christmas.) To stop it, much as it annoyed me to delay my neighbours' happy mail (small estate of 21 households so everyone knew each other), I wrote "wrongly delivered" on each and put them in a pillarbox. That stopped it. Later I learned that it must've been a casual postie hired for Christmas, probably couldn't cope with the workload. I do hope that doesn't happen to you and those on your estate!

Luckily Im not waiting for anything and Xmas cards arent sent as much now but its now fair - Its not like its cheap now and many "letter" are maybe NHS appts, Bank and official docs - They take the money and just offer an awful service - The recent £21M Fine is clearly not a deterant and perhaps would cost more than that to get the extra staff to improve delivery times!
Same thing happens every year and I usually shut up shop about a week before to avoid those last minute shoppers who then dont pay 1st class but expect it to arrive on time - but this year has been so dreadful I darent close for a week.
