I only stumbled across this one when researching something.
Registered as a Private Seller.
eBay count at top of their page gives a count of 18,934 items !!
Most available in different sizes, made "to order" - they quote.
(Where did they get the time to list that lot) ???
They don't sell anything that I do, so not a competitor to me, but goodness me !
So, beat that then !!

Is it a UK business, sorry, private seller?

Yes. Location United Kingdom.

Oh, what a coincidence, I know exactly who you mean. Ebay are well aware but can see no evidence of trading. That said, he's not the worst. I've seen sellers with 50,000 listings and several thousand is pretty common.

Thank you for your report, we take this very seriously but unfortunately we cant be sure this is not just a person selling unwanted items. We are continuing to upgrade and increase our efforts to stop businesses operating on private accounts and please use the report system if you see any you believe are doing so.
Just thought I'd type that out so eBay can copy and paste as thats exactly what they would say, they really do not care and in my opinion the copy and paste replies we get are akin to eBay sticking 2 fingers up to their customers, they really do not care otherwise they'd act on accounts like these years ago.
I'm all ears if anyone (including the community team) can give me a reason any private account should have 18000 items let alone the ability to list that many.

Wonder how they get on with combined postage using SD

I once came across a book seller with over 33,000 items listed for sale.

Insane. I've just been looking at a private book seller with 3,300+ listings and 11k sold. Many of the listing were for multiple titles so goodness knows how many are actually listed.

@fribblecollectables sadly I can beat that. Local business to me, 5 eBay shops (that I know of, maybe more) as a private seller, each with 4-5,000 items in each, multiple quantity listings. Reported several times in 2024, I’m sure they are registered with HMRC as they have a B&M shop on a nearby trading estate.
Nothing ever done by eBay.
How much are eBay losing in fees with this seller ?

This problem of "private" business sellers clearly needs some attention.
ebays policy is not being followed and no action is taken.
There also does not seem to be a proper way to report them in place.
What is stopping all businesses opening private accounts to avoid fees ?
I asked ebay this question, as I have a business account and can not compete on price due to the selling fees.
They said I could sell on a private account to avoid fees, but after a certain amount of sales they would ask me to change to a business account.
I asked if that happened, could I just open another private account and was told that so long as I use a different email it would be fine.
As I am correcty registered and declare all income to HMRC, it just seems a question of morality.
ebay don't care and judging by the amount these "private" sellers sell, customers don't care either.

After looking at a private seller with 3300+ book listings yesterday, ebay has very kindly put another one in to my feed today. 2000+ with variant listing - so well in advance of that number. Happy days - not.

I'd love to know why eBay thinks private sellers need variant listings as an option.

Maybe the option would be too onerous for IT to implement 2 different systems 😁

Private seller of railway photographs. 1022 items listed, 38,000 items sold.

Meanwhile, I am now paying 12% seller fees on my genuine private items, as the idiots at eBay flagged this genuine private account as 'private account being used to sell business goods' with zero evidence after my first 2 £10 DVD sales. I appealed, pointing out I have a 10 year old business account AS WELL that pays them thousands a year in utterly undeserved fees*, but I might as well have banged my head against the wall repeatedly. Yet again, the honest person takes the ***** end of the stick thanks to AI *bleep* algorithms and a lack of trained, human oversight, whilst the accounts shamed above guffaw into their cocktails bought on the 12% saving.
The only upside of this is that anything I think I'll get less than £20 for generally goes to the RSPCA shop, though, the irony is a lot of those items are not the sort of things charity shops want, to they go to landfill.
Given the continuous greed of this lot, they deserve nothing from us, hence my open contempt.
*I do everything I can to conduct 90% of my business away from this hellsite, but even so have turned over £15k on my other account this year.
