Past couple of days listing views high but sales on the floor

Anyone else had good listing views over the weekend but no sales? Very odd to have fantastic listing views but no one buying? Wondered if there had been any tech issues over the weekend?

It is all very well knowing your sales have crashed, but what exactly is it that you are all selling, that is not getting sales?.

Same as, impressions 10 million per month, sales approx 50% for the same impressions last year. People aren't buying possibly due to the economy so it's a case of eBay being used to scroll and wishlist imo.

Buyers are definitely more savvy than they used to be as it is easier to research prices.

When you sell phones on eBay you do have to brace yourself for the malicious buyers, it is a scam magnet category. They would be encouraged by the private seller status and 0 feedback.

There will also be the buyers who don’t read the description about the 8-12 working days delivery time. It can be difficult on here, you have to do everything by the book from the start, any problem sales are a no no early on as you have no credit in the bank (so to speak) with eBay.

Just remember that £77 is actually £95 with vat etc

if you are building a site and moving listings across to Etsy keep the shop open websites take weeks to index and then you will need to learn about SEO so or pay for google ads to get the website viewed.

Etsy is worse than eBay in some cases their search engine is almost  useless and only way to get seen is promoting until your shop gets decent traffic.

Do you believe the Viewing numbers ? I asked Kat about  Views going down on the weekly chat, she 'explained' it may have been down to bots which get removed or added ? Which to be honest went over me.

There has been history on Views in the past when the instant a new item went live, it had multiple Views - which was dubious, after it was raised, the 'rouge' views ended. Hmmm.

Re: Past couple of days listing views high but sales on the floor

Hiya,

As soon as I came on here yesterday to find out myself about sales on Ebay, my sales started to come in.

I am new to this Ebay thing, and luckily have a good contact that owns a large mobile phone distributors, that I sell through.

Easy money, it really is.  The only problem though is how cluttered the Ebay platform is, and it is not exactly user-friendly.  Cluttered platform, that can have you pulling your hair out.

That aside, I am now making sales, without doing anything.  Obviously, it helps if you have the contacts in the mobile phone industry to be able to do what I am doing.  Good distributors, good prices, all templates laid out for me.

It is a no brainer.  So sales are rising for me, but it is mobile phones, and mobile phones are lets face it, one of the top sellers on Ebay no doubt.

We shall see.  I just wish Ebay could get rid of about 90% of the clutter and rubbish on the platform, that makes the platform inefficient and difficult to navigate around, especially if you are new like me.

But that aside, come on, how can I complain.  I have a deal with a large distributors who are friends of mine, and this converts into sales without doing anything hard.  The most difficult thing is dealing with the clutter on Ebay and how to navigate around to find a customers details and such. Not easy, not simple, you know it is not easy or simple.  So Ebay, really should consider efficiency over clutter in the future.

Anyway, making easy money, it cannot get any easier than the deal I have with my distributors, if I am honest.

Re: Past couple of days listing views high but sales on the floor

There are people behind the 90% of items you would like to see gone though. If eBay were to make the site nice and tidy for drop shipping, the shunned 90% leave and take their buying power from them.

If we all turned to drop shipping the UK economy would be in trouble. For the overall health of eBay, think of it like the economy, we need a mixture of all types of sellers or it dies.

' I have a deal with a large distributors who are friends of mine'.

Then you need a business account to sell, not a private account.

Re: Past couple of days listing views high but sales on the floor

A small word of warning - you're new to ebay and have started by listing nearly 300 mobile phones as a private seller. Mobile phones is a category that ebay keeps a tight eye on as there are so many scammers. You may well attract the attention of ebay's security bots. I say this because other sellers who have launched themselves in a similar fashion and selling similar items have found themselves suspended while ebay ran security checks.  They came to these boards asking for help. Some managed to get their accounts back other found themselves banned from selling.

There really is nothing quite like coming onto a forum, then rubbing everyone's face in it.

"Look at me, I'm doing great! I don't have to pay any fees! Isn't it just brilliant........"

Do advertisers pay ebay for the number of views their items  'show' ?

Could explain a lot id imagine.
