No IOSS code given on sale

I wonder if anyone could advise, I have sold an item to Southern Ireland and buyer has paid.  Usually on order for items to Europe I am given an IOSS number to put on package but haven't received one? Also when I go  to purchase post on Ebay it is not giving me the option of Royal Mail even though it is a small parcel?  I have never not been given an IOSS number?  Live chat are telling me it is because Ebay has not collected the tax?  Can I just send without the IOSS number with Royal Mail?  Who will then collect this tax? Didn't want it held up in customs.  Thanks

No IOSS code given on sale

There is a cut off value for when IOSS can be used. I think that may be 150 Euros but stand to be corrected.

Any item over that amount usually the VAT is paid for by the buyer

An IOSS number is only provided if Ebay collect the tax & they only do this for items to Ireland if the value is below Euro150. Above that figure the buyer pays at the border usually with a collection fee as well.

You can check whether tax has been collected by going to Order details.

Personally if its over Euro 150 I would check that the buyer knows it will be assessed for tax at the Irish border otherwise you may find they refuse to pay & the item comes back to you.

What was the value of the order (excluding postage)? Also, if you view the sales record it should show you whether eBay has charged and remitted VAT on the sale or not.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Thanks for response, order was only for £39.99, no VAT charged on invoice.  On previous low sale items I have received an IOSS number so not sure why not on this sale?  Also when I went to purchase post there was not an option for Royal Mail only 2 couriers, package is low value and small parcel under 1Kg?

No IOSS code given on sale

Prior to IOSS I had several Irish buyers use a UK address to buy an item but then change the delivery address to Southern Ireland. They were trying to get airmail post whilst paying only for UK 2nd class. I just wonder if something similar has happened here.

Personally I would message them pointing out that Ebay have not levied the tax, ask if they recently changed from a UK address & point out that will need to pay the tax plus fee at the border if you send it. See what the reaction is and if you have any doubts then you always have the option to cancel the sale using "Problem with delivery address".

Thanks.  Buyer has paid the international postage fee which is tracked so correct postage paid, I have just emailed them prior to me sending to let them know ebay has not collected this fee so they will likely be charged their end.  This is the first time I have never been supplied with an IOSS code where VAT/taxes have not been collected and wanted to check what would happen if I send without it as it would be pointless if it either gets returned or customer not happy/unaware of further fees to pay.
