Hi All
I write this whilst still waiting for Christmas to happen. I have been on ebay for over 20 years & at one time I used to think why are ebay buyers unlike Amazon buyers in the sense that Amazon buyers used to just buy & hardly ask anything & TBH I used to get a tired of all the pointless questions from ebay buyers.
However only a few weeks to Xmas & the only messages on ebay are "We have sent your payout" if you're lucky & "Don't forget to use your packaging voucher" which I don't bother with.
I think sales aside the pure lack of even questions speaks volumes to the tumbleweed site that ebay has become!

Last week I was buying up a certain product on eBay that I found a profit in.
I purchased 6 items quickly with no messing around, as the listings were unambiguous.
I found another 6 that weren’t showing a crucial detail I needed to be able to buy so I messaged all 6. 2 people replied, 4 ignored me completely including 2 ‘top rated’ business sellers. Err yeah sure. Needless to say they are still unsold and on my watch list, they must not need the sales.
As a buyer, seeing that has put me off bothering messaging sellers again. I do wonder if there is a level of apathy because of how impersonal the site has become.
Regarding the packaging voucher I noticed some sellers buy tape and the minimum number of boxes, build up a pile and then re-sell them on eBay.

Thank you for your reply, also worth mentioning is the following. I had some issues in the business this year outside my control & had to stop selling at the start of June & came back with the sames shop in August.
When I left in June I had 870 followers & when I came back at the start of August it had dropped by 3 to 867 not surprising as I had no listings up. However after nearly four months of being back on my followers have remained stagnant at 867 with no extra followers in the four months from August.

I would probably give Vinted a try adding books / maps that you have a multiple quantity of. You won’t be caught out by selling the same item on 2 platforms at once and be unable to fulfill and order and they may do well on there.
I know not everyone wants to create a Vinted Pro account yet but there are sales over there people are missing out on. It does seem very quiet on here, November is my final month on this account I am wrapping it up. For a while anyway… I’ll see what changes happen to eBay business seller fees in 2025.
