My local Yodel drop off point has said they will not take any parcels larger than a shoebox as they are "just a convenience store". They are the only local Yodel point. Is this normal? Are there "large" and "small" designated Yodel dropoffs?
thanks

I would never use Packlink so I'm probably the wrong person to ask.
Anyway, if it was me I would just cancel the label - if that is possible - then find another means of shipping the parcel.

Hi, Still happening. Just took a parcel the size of a microwave box and under 5kg. Well within Yodel limits.
Paid for service on ebay, and the shop tells me the driver is not going to take it.
The shop said i could leave it if i wanted but it probably won't be collected.
Is this an issue with drivers or is it Yodel policy?
Managed to find a shop about 2 miles away and they accepted it , no problem.

It seems to be that if you book direct with Yodel their Ts&Cs are different to if you book through eBay, and that this has not been well communicated through Yodel to their stores. Last time I ended up paying £18 for delivery with Royal Mail when the buyer had only paid £3.88 for delivery wth Yodel, but I had no choice because no store would accept it. I only sold the item for £35 so it was a huge financial hit and eBay were not helpful at all - they just told me to book through another service, and that I'd have to negotiate the new postal price with the buyer. The buyer did agree to pay an additional £5 in the end.
I just sold somethime else, smaller and lighter but still bigger than the Yodel stores will usually accept. I took it to my local drop off store and they accepted it this time no worries. So they obviously got the memo now.
My major issue is with eBay and the lack of help available if this happens - and the system isn't fit for purpose. If you have to cancel postage you should be able to go back to the buyer through the eBay system and offer a more expensive postage option, but there isn't any way to do this atm.

I've been having the same problem. I sell around 2000 items on eBay each year currently and our local yodel drop off points have got a new driver and he is refusing to take the larger parcels. I have investigated further and it does even confirm directly on the Yodel website that the limit for sending a parcel with yodel at a store is 120 x 50 x 50cm and 10kg and the new driver is indeed wrong stating that it should only be 60 x 50 x 50cm. See here below, the limit for a return is 60 x 50 x 50 but the limit for a seller on eBay is confirmed as 120 x 50 x 50cm and it's causing me a lot of problems.

Hi, I went to a Yodel drop off today with a large parcel but within the correct measurements. The assistant made every excuse not to accept it but eventually did. She referred to the driver not accepting large parcels. I did manage to convince her to take it eventually. However, I have another large parcel that will sell this weekend. My worry is if they won't accept it! I usually use Yodel but am not sure now what to do. Does anyone have any thought please. Many thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem. It seems all you can do is find a Yodel drop off that will take large parcels or choose an alternative courier.
I would ring round and ask the policy of the store before driving round for miles.

Thanks so much, I'll do that. Have a lovely day.

There does seem some confusion over returns and sales. My local drop-off always calls my parcels returns, although I tell them it's not a return but a sale. There does seem to be different size limts for each one. Insist it's a sale and the driver cannot refuse it. Contact the local depot if you can and complain.

Hi, I've just been refused at my local store to drop off a larger parcel 60x50x50 size. They said at the Littlestone Store that the Yodel driver will not take it?

Hi
I've just been turned away from my local Yodel collection point ( a convenience store) having purchased a label online from eBay and ensured my package met Yodel's requirements. I sent these messages to Yodel via Twitter/X:
Hi
. I have a parcel to post and the local Budgens (on Kenton Road, Harrow) says they can’t accept it as there’s a limit on the size they can accept and you will collect from them. It’s within your accepted size. Which Yodel point nearby will accept it?
Also,
, there’s no advice on your online store/collection point finder about which locations have limits on their parcel sizes. I could traipse around a dozen locations and be refused at each one.
Eventually the store aid they'd take it, but couldn't guarantee the Yodel Driver would accept it. I had to leave my phone number just in case and they would try and let me know if there was a problem.
It's just so, so unhelpful and inconvenient. Makes me want to steer clear of Yodel.

I have had the same problem with Yodel Drop off stores refusing to accept the parcel. I think the problem is with Packlink; the Packlink system shouldn't allow Yodel as an option for Delivery if the dimensions and the weight are over what Drop off stores would accept.
In fact I prefer if Yodel is ditched by Packlink altogether. Yodel is a Useless Courier. Several Stores have stopped accepting Yodel parcels altogether! Good riddance!

I would second garifornia’s advice as it can be a nightmare driving around looking for a yodel drop off to accept your parcel and their designated drop offs are often few and far between so you end up driving miles and miles only to have the parcel refused. This situation is completely unacceptable and very weak business considering that yodel have a contract with packlink and are not fulfilling that contract. The fact that shopkeepers are put in a position whereby they have to refuse after we have followed all the contractual rules by paying and printing labels online to correct sizes that Yodel/ Packlink have pre-agreed then local yodel depot managers tell their drivers not to collect is an absolute scam and an outrage which sets shopkeepers and customers against eachother, this needs reposting right up the chain to the CEO’s of all concerned because it is causing a lot of distress and wasted time. 2024/2025 and this blatant sharp practice is allowed astounds me!

Yodel is an absolute disgrace, and I cannot believe they are still allowed to operate. This company epitomises everything wrong with modern business practices: zero accountability, zero professionalism, and zero care for their customers. Drop off points are told by Yodel couriers to REFUSE parcels of a certain size that they accept online at point of purchase ie eBay through packlink. This is completely unacceptable and beyond appalling, it is direct interference with UK mail which is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE! The safety of customers mail should never be compromised, yet Yodel employs individuals who are told by their managers to refuse parcels after the contract through label payment has been struck. Clearly no respect for customers or their mail. Yodel hides behind their useless chat system, making it impossible to speak to a real human being. Their so-called “customer service” is an absolute farce. You’re forced to interact with a bot that only deals with basic tracking queries, and anything beyond that is dismissed. There’s no phone number, no email, and no escalation process—nothing. It’s as if Yodel has deliberately made it impossible to resolve any real issues or hold them accountable. The agents (if you can even call them that) are a joke. They clearly have no training, no understanding of the UK postal system, and no ability to assist. Speaking to them is like banging your head against a wall. It’s a complete waste of time and only adds to the frustration. This company’s lack of transparency is borderline if not outright criminal. Their systems are designed to frustrate, and their entire business model is built around avoiding responsibility. It’s shocking that they’re still in business. The incompetence of Yodel isn’t just frustrating—it’s dangerous. A delivery company that doesn’t care about its customers should not be operating. It’s obvious they’ve cut every corner imaginable, leaving customers to deal with the fallout. I genuinely believe Yodel is a scam. They promise a service they cannot deliver, hide behind chatbots and offshore agents, and leave their customers stranded with no means of resolving issues. It’s a disgrace to the delivery industry and an insult to paying customers. If the government had any sense, they would shut Yodel down immediately. No company that treats its customers this poorly should be allowed to operate. I would rather walk across the country to deliver a parcel myself than ever use Yodel again. Avoid this company at all costs. They are unreliable, unprofessional, incompetent, and outright sharks to deal with. By far the worst company I’ve ever encountered.

Sounds like an issue with the actual shop rather than Yodel, unfortunately the only thing to do is complain to Yodel, sounds brutal as it feels like grassing them up but the shop will be getting paid to accept parcels and as long as your parcel is within the limits given when booking they should be taking it and cant just pick and choose as it looks bad on Yodel. Yodel will then have to discus with the shop or choose another shop of which im sure there will be others willing as not only do you get the commission but you get buyers grabbing a bottle of milk or better still a bag full of shopping in the process.
I once took 5 x 13" square boxes to my local petrol station for ups to collection, they had to be stacked in the actual isle but the shop took them regardless.

I mean I dont know who is to blame here but it sure as heck isnt the customer.

Just adding to the long frustration here. None of my local drop off points accept the larger parcels and they all set their own rules. The closet one to me only accepts small and medium parcels. The next one is constantly full and never seems to accept parcels due to lack of space. The next one tells me that the maximum they can accept is 70cm. They constantly tell me the driver doesn't accept the larger parcels. eBay appear to have severely reduced the options for collection from your home making it more and more difficult to economically find a drop off location.
