Impressions broken again??

Can you please check if there is another problem with impressions? Another counting glitch? These stats can not be correct. Organic impressions promoted views down to under 3000 views today at time of writing. This time last week almost 73000 views. Please help.  dave@ebay kat@ebay

Impressions broken again??

Impressions are going down again since the 4th, they have halved after the few days of superficial peak that resulted in no extra sales or page views.

No sales for over 48 hours now since Sunday AM, after a relatively good daily sales for the last 2 weeks before that.

New promoted items are not getting views, only  1-2 organic views in 48 hours.

Other promoted listings are not getting any views or again mostly organic.

Get no new "sent offers"  for 3 days now, "sent offers" usually is a good indicater that potential buyers are seeing your items.

Nothing has improved after the 7th when they supposed to end the test, for me things have gone much worse  as sales completely stopped for more then 48 hours , yet all have high %  promotions.

I dont think anything has been fixed at all.

Impressions broken again??

@ojewellery wrote:

I've had three days that have been okay for sales - something I'd hope for over payday weekend but also done a lot of ending, sell similar, title play, rephotographed, added offsite ads and some advanced promoted listings - basically tried to shake things up.

Interestingly this coincides with a 25% increase in page views.  My impressions percentage is hovering around the same but my page views and conversion are up.

My (eBay) rolling month figures are shocking and its making it harder to invest in stock ordering for my peek season.  Getting distracted now by a nasty little dispatch not registering, even though delivery confirmed, technical glitch on another platform thats having an impact on performance metrics just as eBay picks up for me.

Just looking back and I wrote this on the 3rd.  We're now the 8th and my page views are up 37%, impressions just up and conversion up 0.2%.

I'd love to be able to say click this push that and all will be well.  Maybe I wasn't part of the test, but I did show the same trends.  I'm sorry to keep reading so many others are stuck in decline and frustration.

Maybe some of the tweaking has worked.  I've done a lot of work overhauling things.  I spent all day Saturday ending and selling similar just about all the stuff I've listed in the last six weeks with near zero views.  Its now getting views and the all important watchers.  I'm sending offers every few waking hours, just trying to get any traction on my account.  I'm still listing new stock on a daily basis as well.

I  have also found a new frustrating glitch with sell similar.  Some of my gallery images aren't working, although the listings are live, so I'm having to reload them manually which is rather more time consuming than I'd thought the sell similar would be.

There's always been a bit of a snowball effect with eBay.  Sales beget sales, decline begets decline.  If an account has had a month now (as all of ours had) with very little movement, it looks to the bots like its not of interest - even if historically it has been.

The shortened relevant activity window eBay have talked about over the last year means that quiet month represents a third of the viewed trading window that concerned me, hence the extra effort, but others mentioned an upturn earlier in thread without the work so maybe its another busy fool activity.

Impressions broken again??

Nothings changed for me either, exactly the same as its been since the 18th, but to be honest I didnt think it would change, once something happens on here it never changes, this will be the new norm, doesn't matter if I list all my items at 0.99p they still don't get seen or sell.  I once listed over 300 a couple of months ago at 0.99p and none of them sold becuase they weren't being seen and in a black hole somewhere.  This site as gone downhill for me ever since managed payments came in, before then I was hitting the VAT bracket every year this year not even half that through no fault of my own, all down to ebays greed and trying to get more money out of me.  If you don't pay you don't sell anything espeically in the clothing categories.  I feel that ebay like to build you up to a shop level so that you get a shop subscription and then thats it you will get no sales unless you pay for promoted.  I think the only ones that are getting sales now are the newbie accounts so that they can build them up then knock them down.

Impressions broken again??

Impressions for me went back up on the 29th, died on the 18th then back to 'normal' after 9 days. I listed some new items yesterday but my external site views was up by 1000% yes, thats the correct number, today its already up by 78%.

I brought it up in last weeks Q&A, hopefully will ask dave@ebay if he has heard back from the US team as he told me it normally only takes 24 hours so 6 days does seem to be pretty long but I might not be free between 2-3pm so if anyone else is on and could ask that would be great. I think I know what the answer will be but worth bringing it up again.

Did you get the 18th July slump and then 29th july jump up in impressions like many others?

Impressions broken again??

Almost identical to everyone else and yes from the 18th. Not even receiving any views or people watching. I've tried experimenting with dynamic promotional percentages and various strategies, but nothing seems to be effective. I keep ending up with similar results regardless of the promotions or sales I run.

The combination of August, the school holidays, and the current state of the economy contribute somewhat to this situation. However, it's clear that this website is malfunctioning, and the administrators are aware of it but show no concern whatsoever. It's about time we find a way to collectively address this issue. Throughout all my years of trading here, I've never encountered a situation like this before.

Something needs to be done that's for sure, I know calling them is pointless as you just get fobbed off, and its always something we are doing wrong not them!

Impressions broken again??

So we thought there was light at the end of the tunnel as we had a couple of 'decent' days I say that lightly as we are still 50% down on what we usualy would make in a day. Thoughout July eBay took 52% of our sales which for me is crazy that they are taking over half of any profit we could have made. eBay are currently killing business sellers. Without taking any responsilbility. Our sales have been down most of the year we expect Jan - Feb to be quieter than usual and with the cost of living rising we expected this year to be slightly down but we have gone from £1000+ a day which is enough to pay our staffs wages, to less than £100 a day which means that we have had to let good staff go. eBay are still not telling any of there sellers what's going on, I feel like this is avoiding the issue. We are now activily looking at other platforms as I don't feel like eBay care about there sellers (who help them earn money) They have now become very money orientated without offering support to sellers.

We try very hard to keep eBay on side, everytime they tell us to change something we are straight to do that. 'make the titles smaller' a week later 'make the titles longer', add 8 photos, oh wait actually customers don't worry about photos so it doesnt matter? then again not long after 'no there needs to be a minimum of 8 photos' we change our listings almost all of the time as that is what is suggested we do.

Not at any point last month did they make us aware that they were having issues we were talking with someone at the marketing team to help boost our sales, they did not tell us that it wouldn't work. We had to find the issue ourselves by coming onto the forums and finding this post. After that they were then letting us know they may have major global issues. At that point we had already spent £3000+ on advertising, we wont be seeing that money again.

We wish eBay would just stop playing around with a system that worked really well before.

If something aint broke don't fix it!

If Ebay are taking 52% of your sales in fees I imagine they are taking considerably more than half of your actual profit.

No, sadly eBay is no longer a viable option for us we have already taken most of our listing down and leave some that we hope will sale, we are having to scale back our business and look for other options and re-think our business model, which is a shame.

Impressions broken again??

No sales for consecutive 3th day now, never experienced this before.

Everything is going only down & down, impressions, page views, sales  etc. except "external views" that go crazy up.

I noticed that every time the external views go crazy up it results in 0 sales for that day.

How much worse can this get  ?, it's not sustainable for a small business, what are they doing ???

Do "external views" = ebay runs tests on your account ??? = no views & no sales ???

anyone else sees this today ?

Sorry to hear that.

If Ebay are losing sellers who are paying 5 - 6k a month in fees something needs to change.

It's not sustainable for anyone however I have been thinking that for a long time and nothing changes.

All the best.

No doubt this will feature on the Q&A in a couple of hours however I'm expecting the big 'swerve' reply and general brush off.  Some openess and honesty and no corporate BS would  be nice for a change.
