GPSR Compliance

This is as clear as mud to me. Been to the gov. advice website and various others.
How does a 1972 poster fit in to this process?

It's not an exempt category.

Advise buyers this item is for viewing only ?

My initial reaction, sadly, to to switch EU and NI off.

Same. I can't be bothered with EU or NI either. It's going to cause me too much stress which then entails migraines which are now lasting days .

we have all asked one simple question. "If we remove listing from NI/EU,  are OUR LISTINGS SAFE?"

This has been asked so many times and yet no one at eBay will give us a firm published answer.

In light of that - would it be more prudent to simply stop selling on ebay until the dust settles?

I Pity the poor folks in NI whole are getting royally stuffed here.

What are eBay threatening for non-compliance? Removal of listings? So the process seems to be automatic.

I'm hoping that if I'm not offering items to the areas affected then surely eBay won't punish me for not complying with sales requirements in those areas.

I'm still so iritated by this.  I think its international interference in domestic trade, the NI part.

Its actions by a foreign government to 'sow discord, manipulate public discourse, discredit the electoral system, bias the development of policy, or disrupt markets for the purpose of undermining the interests of the UK'  (taken from a US statement on definition of international interference, US swapped for UK)

Its fundamentally wrong.

Auto holding and pulling from the platform (not removal) of listings if the relevant documents and details aren't attached to each listing (when auto-bot) scans and picks up at random.

the key point as in eBay's documents is that it only applies to goods being offered for sale in EU/NI.

most of us I believe are pulling out of these areas on business postage policies. However, we still are getting listings hit (which makes no sense) and we can't get a definitive response from eBay to say if account is GB only then we are safe. A tad frustrating. Even when we appeal and quote their own guidelines there is no response (we are not allowed to relist hidden listing )and listing remains hidden (one now for over a month).

so we as stated before are all peak-planning on the basis of hope and wonder?

We sadly can't stop selling as bills and staff to still be paid. eBay for a lot of us is a major revenue stream and we all know we are doing nothing wrong by pulling NI/EU.

when will the dust settle? How long are we floating in the ocean without wind In our sales?

What we all want is a simple policy report from Ebay in clear English (not financial or legalise speak) as to what is going on. Are there sanctions for removing EU & NI listings? Are Ebay going to inform all NI buyers the situation (in clear English) and the implications?

It's Ebay's contradictory vagueness and then head in the sand attitude that is infuriating everybody.

I used to get regular sales within EU a while ago.  Very little last year or so.  I suspected exposure on overseas sites was being wound down for various reasons to do with eBay changing shipping policies, regular sales to the US have gone too and that has been identified to eBay issues.

As far as bothering to rage against the EU protectionist regime goes, they can go and  *&....@>  There was a level trading playing field from the start after B.r.x.t which the EU decided to rip up in favour of what amounts to retalitory trade sanctions and annexation of NI.  The EU expects us all to go crawling on our hands and knees begging for forgivness and take us back into the EU on their terms.  After the way they have behaved in response to democratic votes, including other ref. votes in other EU countries, it is no suprise people are not on their knees and instead simply looking to remove EU from the places they are prepared to sell too.

We do not need the EU, we can and will just turn our backs on them.  Many other countires also impacted by these and other protectionist rules are doing the same.  We are not alone in our frustration with them.

Shrug shoulders, walk away.  We should instead concentrate on getting the eBay listing and shipping shambles sorted between UK and US.

GPSR Compliance

I've read your comments and links and felt a bit on the fence about next steps.

I've just had a phone call from a lovely chap at TSS, who endevoured to answer my many, many questions but couldn't comment on GPSR.

He categorically stated that under the Windsor Framework, carriers like Royal Mail and all other carriers, are going to require our TSS account number to be able to continue shipping on our behalf to NI.  The extent of other paperwork, when/ how its submitted could vary by carrier.

He also recommended signing up to  UKIMS (UK Internal Market Scheme) as this will reduce paperwork and the scheme is being inundated with late applications.  I'm awaiting more information on this.

From the government website:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-authorisation-for-the-uk-internal-market-scheme-if-you-bring-g...

To join the UK Internal Market Scheme, you’ll need to apply online to get authorised. Once you’re authorised, you’ll be able to declare your goods ‘not at risk’ if they are brought into Northern Ireland for sale or final use by end consumers in Northern Ireland (and Great Britain in the case of movements from Great Britain).

‘Not at risk’ goods will:

  • not be charged duty if entering Northern Ireland from free circulation in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales)

  • be charged UK duty if entering Northern Ireland from outside the EU and the UK

  • be charged UK duty if entering Northern Ireland from Great Britain and the goods were not in free circulation in Great Britain

I'm going to apply tonight - the chap was very funny and tolerant of my complete frustration suggested doing the application over a glass (or bottle) of wine.

The Windsor framework has been delayed until end March 25 but I'd still hope that prior to this eBay could incorporate TSS and UKIM registration into the system to enable sellers to keep sending goods to NI without obligations to meet GPSR.
