Looking at my sales data since Friday when i stopped promoting and moved to using a coupon ive noticed a significant increase in External Site views, it says these are from seach engine searches etc.
Has anyone experienced this?
Does promoting block these ?
Is it the coupon doing this or just coinsidental ?
Sundays external views were equal to the views generated by the promotion ive run most of the most so im interested to find out more.

That looks healthy on the cost front!
This was my unusual blip on Wednesday October 9th.
Doesn't make any sense at all!

I stopped promoting as soon as eBay announced free fees for private sellers because at that time I decided eBay were getting no more of my money than I had to give them
this month so far my sales are up by 16% and my fees are down by 2%. It may just be a coincidence but I'm not worried how it's happened I'm just feeling better about reducing the amount I pay in fees and increasing the money that goes in my bank

There is a general thing on eBay, that altered listings can be treated as new listings, and new listings get extra visibility.
So the blip in views may be down to the fact that you changed the promotion, and not the specific fact that you removed the promotion.
This is a hurdle where many sellers fall, but it makes sense for eBay.
A seller who is trying to see whether promotions work for them, will experiment by adding selected listings to the promotion. The algorithm counts these listings as "changed", and they get a boost in search results. The seller thinks promoting obviously works for them, and starts promoting all their listings.
But part of that boost is down to the change , and when they stop promoting the items, that will also be a change, and the items get another boost.
If this is what is happening for you, the best answer may be to switch promotions on and off every now and then - or to look for another sort of change that is less expensive but also gets a visibility boost.

yes thats helpful, I see what you mean, I ran promotions for months before, then dropped to changing it every 2 weeks but now doing 2 - 3 day coupons / promotions / nothing and seeing better results with way less fees
