Estimated delivery date the same regardless of service chosen by buyer ..

I have always offered free postage and used Royal Mail second class Large Letters / Parcels . Under pressure from buyers and Ebay  , I decided to add  a premium /tracked option to all my listings... The premium option shows up alright  , but shows the same estimated number of days for delivery as the free option and the estimated delivery window is the same or ONE DAY LONGER ! I originally added Tracked 24 , then 1st Class to see what happened, but both show the same  ( 2-3 days ) ... I notice that now , after adding the premium service the postage boxes are greyed out , so I cannot  even remove any services ... What might I be doing wrong ? ??

You're not doing anything wrong. eBay's EDD is just broken and the staff simply refuse to acknowledge it.

Oh I think they acknowledge it. They cant avoid the facts. The great many people who make up ebay customer support will see the facts (ie 2nd class, 1st class & next day special delivery can all end up being having the same delivery date which is impossible)  and say to themselves - that's impossible.

However  as we all know its broken or just make believe to look like it is to keep up with the big A, I'm very very sure there is a hard line passed down from the management to keep to the party line that "everything is working as intended" irrespective of what each person knows and can see with their own eyes. It must be a weird kind of cognitive dissonance working that way.

You aren't doing anything wrong, just ebay's postage options are.... at best... confusing because you know 1st, 2nd, next day delivery will all have different delivery dates but ebay say that it's possible that they can all be delivered on the same day.

A lot of ebay sellers just change their delivery option to "other 3 day courier" to avoid this kind of issue, irrespective of if that is against ebay rules and misrepresenting their postal options to the public is also illegal.

RM's delivery aim for 1st Class and T24 is the same - 1/2 days.  Similarly 2nd Class and T48 are the same - 2/3 days.  This is why the EDD on eBay is the same for tracked and untracked.  It appears, to buyers that are unacquainted with RM, that the only difference is the tracking.

However, the difference is that tracked is monitored by RM, 1st/2nd Class is not.   The RM delivery priority is Special Delivery - Tracked - then 1st/2nd.  This means that T24/T48 will probably be delivered within the delivery aim - 1st Class may be (but probably won't be) and 2nd Class will be left to rot in the frame until all the priority post is dealt with.

I tell my buyers that if you need the item within the delivery aim timescale, select Tracked.  If you're happy to wait 5-10 days, select 2nd Class.
