A friend has a business and is a proper registered business seller (Hooray!)
I've been helping him with his new unit this week. We are going to fit a better alarm and door entry in the new year.
His items are usually sent via Evri via the local shop, which to be fair despite all the deserved moans has worked for him and his customers. But very time consuming.
Just wondering, does anyone here use Royal Mail collection, and are they consistent enough to either open an industrial unit door if directed via the 'where to collect' box (we could have it so door auto unlocked all day but you need swipe to go beyond lobby) or better yet code lock on outer door?? He can't be at the unit all the time.
Thanks!

In the main, the driver you get will be the same one.
Though this does vary as they tend to do collections as overtime and not standard hours.
So once they all know where to look, it shouldn't really be an issue.
But if your not getting a collection every single day, are you sure it's the right way to go?
The odd blank is not too unusual, but if you have regular days with no collection and don't hit the minimum requirements, they will take the account away, or charge considerably more for it.
There is however no reason why you cannot just laminate it and place it outside securely fastened.
Or even on the inside of a glass door/window.

Ah... not thinking about an account here, just good old regular 'free' collection built into tracked 24 and 48, I use this myself on an ad-hoc basis. Items are valuable enough to bear the higher costs.
I sell my private stuff on here and use RM collect which is why I'm recommending it to him. But my collection items can be seen though the glass porch (plus the door is obviously not lockable) so I've had no issues. Just wondered how others got on with other scenarios, i.e do RM follow instructions, are they happy to unlock door/cabinets with a code or not?

I think a code could be a challenge too far. The drivers seem to be very short of time - I've seen ParcelForce refuse to take all the stuff waiting at the PO because they haven't time to come back in and pick up the remainder.
If the driver has to locate the code and take their gloves off to key it in, you may find that there's a lot of 'No Access' pick up failures. Your stuff is in an unlocked porch, so that's quick and easy. Keying in a code is a real fiddle, silly little buttons. I've had to do this to get into office premises - and I knew the code, I didn't have to look it up.
