6 days late report item arrived damaged

Hi

Can somebody clarify this policy circumstances for the eBay Money Back Guarantee? Please?

The buyer opened a 6-day-late case after receiving it, stating that the item had arrived damaged; it was 2 in 1 men's thongs-jockstrap 7.45. I did not accept it, and it was forced back to me by the buyer within 2-3 weeks. When I received it back, the item was in genuine condition.

 Regards,

Peter

With UK distance selling laws a buyer can send an item back for any reason.

You are a business seller and you must accept returns for any reason.

To add, late arrival of an item means the buyer can return it as Not as Described where the seller has to pay the return postage.

Thx for your reply

You need to understand some intentions of the buyers as most of the claims is manipulated like this one, also every claim need to meet some criteria before any return and acceptation.

This is obvies case that a item can not arrive demaged after 6 days of the delivery confirmation by the buyer.

Ebay politics has some requirements but it doesn't mean that you can accept everything.

Are you a expiriced seller by the way pls

Regards,
Peter

Don't judge a poster by the account they use. Many have accounts they use to post here rather than expose their main accounts.

This is my official account, you mean that I may meet restrictions by posting something on this community?

No,  you will not receive any account restrictions posting here.

Many posters here use a posting account, because sometimes if they leave an answer which is not liked that person could be vindictive buy something from their selling account,  and then go and trash their feedback, that's why some do not use their selling account to post here.

Hi Peter

Buyers get to choose their reasons for return. And yes, some buyers deliberately choose the wrong reason so that they can get a return at seller's expense. As it is the seller's word against the buyer's it is hard for eBay to judge. So, you need to refund. Then report the buyer for misuse of returns and block him. If you are a top-rated-seller and you report, eBay will cover the cost of the return for you (at the end of the month). eBay will also stop the buyer leaving negative feedback.

It is important to report the buyer if you think he has misused returns as this allows ebay to build up a history on both you and your buyer. Buyers who regularly misuse the return system will either have their returns limited or their accounts closed. In the first instance eBay will always seek to defend the buyer as that makes good business sense, we all need buyers. But if the buyer has a bad history, eBay will support the seller. Which is why it is important to report bad buyers.

If you are very unhappy refunding this buyer, you can always try contacting eBay and explain the situation. If this buyer already has a history of this behaviour, eBay may issue a courtesy refund to you for the cost of the refund.

As a final note, you need to build the cost of some bad returns like this into your business plan. It is all part and part of online selling unfortunately.

I hope this helps.
