Re: ip in milton keynes this weekend

I'm thinking of a jumping a train over there for two of the guests firdt thing Saturday morning. Have never been to mk before. Is there an easily identifiable bus service from the station to the mk shopping centre?

It's a good event - and the shopping centre is walkable from the railway station

I was hoping to go on Sunday to meet Gazza but its my Daughters birthday on Saturday and she is having a party for her school friends on Sunday so it would be more than my lifes worth, hopefully he will be announced at another show soon

Nigel

If you are going by train you can easily walk from the station to the centre. When leaving the station just walk straight ahead and keep going. The centre is about a 15/20 min walk from there. When you get to the centre, Middleton Hall is at the far end by John Lewis. I will be there around midday if you fancy a coffee. Let me know.

Regards Stuart

Re: ip in milton keynes this weekend

On train to take me home. Gutted my main guest Andy Goram cancelled. Got Alfie Conn, Bob Champion, and the four Britain boxing legends on a 12 by 16 collage which I then got framed for an extra 15 quid. P'd with rain today andl was not feeling well but determined to get there. Pics later. Boxing guys were awesome.

Re: ip in milton keynes this weekend

That's better, slipped back into my real eBay id. 🙂

Have not been to a signing event for many a moon. This proved ok and was easy to get to, and easy to work round as there was hardly anyone there. It p'd down with rain today, and I was not feeling very well, but made sure I got there.

My only bugbear was that the main person I wanted cancelled at the very last moment - Andy Goram. I need his sig to complete a multi-signed piece. I had targeted three people based on budgetary constraints, and got two of them, but then impulse took over (as well as extra spending), and I completed a nice foursome. Carl Froch was the big draw for many I guess, but he was not due to start until 11, and was too expensive at £30/£35 a sig. Here's who I met today -

Alfie Conn

Alfie became the 8th sig in my Spurs book. All sigs in person so far apart from Martin Peters who was ttm. Too expensive to send ttm unless I can get a special sig from time to time. Alfie also signed a 10x8 for me.

Bob Champion

Bob signed a 10x8 for me.

What proved the highlight for me, four great heroes from my youth, and wonderful chaps to meet and talk to. I knew they were there, but was going to be good with my money. I could not resist it in the end though as they are all such great characters, and I have great memories watching them fight on my old B&W tv as a kid.

Alan Minter, Ken Buchanan, Charlie Magri and Dave Boy Green

They all signed a collage of the four of them, and an 8x10 each. After I finished getting the sigs, I took up what seemed a reasonable offer to frame it for me for £15. This is going to be a favoured piece for me for the rest of my life. Really pleased with it. All four gents signed beautifully. Dave Boy Green and Alan Minter were legends to talk too and a great laugh. You have to love the pic I took of Dave in the classic pose. :)

Re: ip in milton keynes this weekend

Some really great items Nigel. I got there about midday when a few had gone to lunch so had a wander round. I managed to get Frank MacLintock, Neville Southall, Peter Bonetti, Ron Harris & Alfie Conn to sign my football book. Will put pics up asap. Like Nigel said, not many people about so had plenty of time to chat to the players. Alfie Conn  and Peter Bonetti were excellent to talk to. Managed to get about three words out of Neville Southall!!

Will be back tomorrow for some more for the book.

Re: ip in milton keynes this weekend

glad to see you had a great time nigel, loving the boxing montage and all the other bits everyone managed to pick up.

My sister also had a great time apparently her husband was totally tongue tied meeting carl foch she had never seen him be so quiet.

She managed to get a lester piggot picture done for me and also peter bonnette picture apparently my brother in law got that one in his arsenal shirt so there was plenty of ribbing.

Good luck to everyone who is going tomorrow
