The Works help please .

A couple of weeks ago I saw a book called of The Encyclopaedia of Scottish Football by David Potter and Phil H Jones in my local Works for £6.99 I didn't buy a copy at the time but I went back later after I thought about it to buy a copy but they had none left , a member of staff told me he could not say if the would get any more in and told me to try their website but there is none on there either . If anyone sees a copy in their local Works would they please get it for me . Thanks .

Re: The Works help please .

Scottish football is an enormous subject that has been deeply ingrained in Scottish culture for well over a century and the publication of the first-ever Encyclopaedia of Scottish Football in 2008 provided a vast, all-encompassing piece of research on football in Scotland which was packed with in-depth information. The second edition now takes this to a new level. It not only contains an entry for every club that has ever participated in the Scottish League, it includes entries for each club in the Highland League, East of Scotland League and South of Scotland League, and even gives information about fondly remembered teams from years gone by such as Glenbuck Cherrypickers, Inverness Citadel, Tarff Rovers and Vale Ocoba. The book now features even more great players, managers and personalities, with men such as Frank Beattie, Jimmy Bonthrone, Bobby Cox, George Farm, Joe Harper, Frank McLintock, Ted McMinn, Bobby Moncur and Willie Pettigrew joining an already impressive list that included Jock Stein, Jim Baxter, Jimmy McGrory, Alan Morton and many more. All of Scotland's international matches, Scottish Cup finals and Scottish League Cup finals are detailed, as well as Scottish caps, regional trophies, amateur leagues and the record of Scottish clubs in Europe. The hundreds of entries also include the origins of the game, goalscoring records and women's football. The encyclopaedia does not hold back from examining the less pleasant aspects of the game such as disasters, violence and sectarianism, and even contains information about the Scottish footballer who won an Oscar, the Italian international player who was born in Scotland, and the occasion when Scottish football was affected by an eclipse of the sun. Bursting with information about Scotland's vast football heritage, this is a book that followers of Scottish football will want to refer to again and again.http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/9598/81h6ji3ymwlaa1500.jpg

Re: The Works help please .

I was in our Works yesterday, and they do have the sports books in their own section, but I did not see this. I may get into town on Wedneday, if not then, definitely on Saturday. Worth checking again in case they have some new stock.

Re: The Works help please .

I had a look around while in Carlisle yesterday, though I might have been in with a chance considering how close Carlisle is to the Scottish broader, but sorry no luck.

However did enjoy a rather nice rail journey on the picturesque Settle to Carlisle line (England's most scenic railway I feel), all for a tenner return, bargain I felt.
