The Muppets - Caroly Wilcox

Another Muppet success today – really pleased with this one. I sent a card and photo to Caroly and it returned today from the US via Sri Lanka? (so says the rubber stamp on the envelope). Caroly was kind enough to include 2 old photos form the early 70’s of her and Don Sahlin (who was the main muppet designer until he passed away in 1978). Unfortunately the envelope must have gotten wet on its travels and the card was stuck to one of the photos, so they were both nearly wrecked when I separated them. I have managed to get the paper off the photo with a damp cotton bud, but it has left a bit of a mark (the attached image below was before I cleaned off the paper). Great note too. I’ll have to send the generous Caroly a Thank You card.  Unfranked stamps too.

Caroly Wilcox started working in the Jim Henson workshop back in 1969. She originally worked as a puppeteer as well as a puppet designer and builder. She was the workshop supervisor for many years, until retiring in 1990. Many of the Muppets started life in Caroly’s very talented hands.
