Hello to all collectors

I'll keep my first post brief because I just lost a lengthy first posting last night.

To cut a long story short, I just bought an autograph from ebay after two years of buying with no problems and this time when my autograph arrived I looked at it and said; 'Fake'

My main question to help me solve the issue is; are there any members out there who any information on the evolution of autograph albums over the years?

The autograph seems genuine, but the paper it is written on looks like it was manufactured yesterday.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks from Michelle.

Re: New Member

It would good too see a photograph of your purchase as many here would be able to help .

I would say that autograph albums have changed over the years i think the early autograph album paper was thinner but now it seems to be thicker as more and more people use sharpies to sign things when in the past it was more biro autographs so less bleeding ,where the sharpie would bleed through the older autograph albums ,but i am no expert on this just my own opinion.

Re: New Member

Thanks for a swift reply,

My original post explained everything in greater detail, however, it got lost in the mail.

Being a new member to this group, I decided not to post the picture along with my post. I will say, that it was of an American actress, well O.K. it was of Leslie Uggams signed in 1970, but the album card looks pristine, like it was signed on a cheap, two dollar aughtograph page, from a cheap two dollar shop, without a trace of age to it.

Thanks

Michelle

Re: New Member

Hello Sean and thanks for the post.

Yes, I'm slowly getting use to it. I just wish I had have copied and pasted my original message that got lost as it explained things in greater detail.

It was just a shock as I expected an album page of that vintage to look like others I have (thicker, more rigid, old looking). I do a hell of a lot of research before I commit and this was the first time I honestly thought I'd been stung.

To think that the album was locked away from all light source for forty years is a little hard to believe but I guess anything is possible. One thing is for certain and that's it will get plenty of exposure now 🙂
