Happy New Year everyone. I know in the past I have apologised for being slack and not adding to the forum, but I am going to have to say ‘sorry’ again. Life has definitely been getting in the way over the last couple of months – I’m hoping 2014 is going to be a good year.
My in-laws give me a first edition signed book for Christmas (well, I ordered it for them). The Night Circus – I really enjoyed the book and the movie rights have been sold, so it might be worth something in the future.
My first TTM for 2014 was the Leslie Grantham signed Panto flyer from Santa Nigel (thank you again Nigel for the generous gift). I have not sent out any requests for months, so I have only had 1 reply recently – took almost a year to return (and I am very happy to see it again). Polly Smith worked for the Jim Henson Company as a costume designer for many years and worked on most productions from the late 70’s to the 00’s. I don't know why the photo has gone a bit yellow around the edges (it isn't on the back) - it might be acid from the envelope or a dodgy batch of photo paper
Next was an IP miss. My wife and I went to Adelaide for a holiday over new year. We went down to have breakfast in the hotel one morning and Italian football legend Alessandro Del Piero was sat at the table next to us (Sydney FC were playing Adelaide United that night). I was surprised because my wife was the first to spot him (she nearly squealed – the in-laws are Italian so it was to be expected). I did not have a pen or anything to sign so Mrs Rob had to settle with a photo with ‘Il Pinturicchio’ (when he finally finished his game of Candy Crush - he must have been playing it for 30 mins and I didn't want to disturbed him). She was very happy, but next time I will try and carry around a pen and card when I go to breakfast.
Nice one for your collection well worth the wait and a great letter too, shame you didnt have anything on your for del piero cracking player he was
