For What It's Worth.

Sent a 12X8 and one of my cards to Ian McShane, 2/2/12 and had the reply today. Despite enclosing a stiff backed envelope, it has been returned in an ordinary envelope and has suffered quite a battering in the post. Plus the 12X8 has been signed in black on the darkest part of the pic. Not my finest success.

It's a bummer when they get crinkled like that, but if you store them between a couple of heavy books for a few months, they will look better over time.

Just a thought Suzanne. Did your postage cover the extra postage required for your reply envelope not being bendable? The USPS require extra for items that cannot be bent. Many agents, etc over there are aware of this, and often use their own envelopes or remove stiffeners.

One of the pit falls of TTM Suzanne.

Nice reply though,,such a shame when you make the effort to get them back in one piece.

#7 Nigel. I can't remember now but it should have been ok as I usually err on the side of caution. I might try again and explain the damage but as you say, the creases can be softened. Might send a silver pen too!

thats unlucky with the missing backing board, I hate it when that happens but had it happen far too often

A nice result though, maybe try flattening them out first and if they don't then write to him again explaining what happened

The stiffness factor makes quite a difference in pricing.

2ounces is $2.53 normal, $3.78 with board/stiffener

3ounces is $3.51 normal, $4.56 with board/stiffener

Basically, $1.25 extra for having an envelope that cannot be bent easily.
