As you know, the EU Commission has so far provided the Online Dispute Resolution Platform (“ODR Platform”) for consumers, which can be used to resolve out-of-court disputes.
This ODR Platform will be discontinued soon. Accordingly, sellers will no longer be obligated to link to the ODR platform
Here you can find the details of the respective new Regulation repealing the existing ODR Regulation.
What happens?
From 20 March 2025 the submission of complaints on the ODR Platform will no longer be possible.
At the latest by 20 July 2025, all information relating to cases on the ODR Platform, including personal data, is deleted and the ODR Platform itself will be discontinued.
I am a consumer, what should I do?
No action is required. You just need to know that this tool for resolving disputes out of court will no longer be available. For the use of eBay services, you can refer to the User Agreement for the management of complaints and, more generally, for the resolution of disputes.
I am a seller, what should I do?
From 20 July 2025 onwards, the listings should not contain any information, link or reference to the ODR Platform anymore. As you no longer will be obligated to link to and inform about the ODR Platform, you should remove respective links and information beforehand. You can also inform your buyers about the fact that they cannot use the ODR Platform to submit any complaints after March 20, 2025.
Please note that this list is not exhaustive and is only intended for reference purposes. In case of any doubt, please seek independent legal advice.
