This is not a *slimming club* really.

I think it would be nice to have a place to come & chat about weight loss ideas (safe sensible ones only please!),
to share personal experiences and achievements, and also to ask for help.

Lindi is our resident expert, and has kindly offered her help.
Just introduce yourself and come on in, you are most welcome!

Morning Sparkle.

On the sw site it says that soya milk is a healthy extra? (box A). Or should I be counting it as a sin/free? I have all green days.

All confused now lol (doesn't take much hehe).

Hello everyone
Been lurking for ages and decided to post! Well done to all who've lost weight and have decided to make that major decision to go for it. I know how hard it is.

I was just wondering if anyone else is food combining here? We try to loosely follow the "Fit for Life" lifestyle as far as food is concerned, although we allow ourselves "sin days" Basically, we only eat fruit and juices before midday and then we can't mix proteins and carbs at the same meal, after that time. It works well for us and IBS is a thing of the past. The weight loss has been steady, up until about 4 weeks ago. I've plateaud and it's horrible. I always drink about 5 pints of water a day, no coffee, no tea or fizzy pop etc.
So far, I've lost about 1st 9lbs since January and am within 7lbs of my personal "ideal" weight. I'm so desperate to get there as there's something I want to wear by the end of June and it looks like it's slipping away! 😞
Has anyone else gone through this, too? Do I have to accept that I might not get back to how I was about 3 years ago - before the birth of my youngest? Any ideas welcome!

I've reached a plateau as well - seem to be stuck (unless I weigh myself at Boots, in which case I've lost loads).

Hi Jay
Could be a breakthrough here lol (oooh I hope so, if it helps you get to that goal)

You must choose ONE selection from the Healthy option (A BOX)!
&
TWO selections from the healthy extra (B BOX).
(i'm not shouting BTW, just wanna make it stand out in a nice way for you).
(3 choices alltogether).

Maybe that wasn't made clear to you from your leader!
Two fibre rich choices & one high in calcium.

*getting excited now, incase I have spotted something lol*

You've confused me with the weetabix post though lol

have you always just had one choice from the B Box?

can't wait to hear from you now lol

chat soon

Hi Wendi

I have yes - no-one told me otherwise. Probably did, just me nodding off or daydreaming at the time (as usual).

Hope that is what it is - I'll start having two Bs from now on. No idea what else is on the list though - must have a peek later (if I can remember the password - daydreaming again lol).

Thank you for helping me - fingers crossed :0)

I didn't get the job. I apparently failed the psychometric test. If that was the case then why did they bother to interview me? I have wasted a lot of time (and money buying a new suit) for nothing. I was told by the trainer that if I had a bad test but a great interview they could re-test me but the area manager says no that's not true. I can't understand why they interview you (three weeks after the test) if you can't make any difference to what they have already decided on the basis of a 15 minute test? Frustrated and fed up.

(I wonder if slimming world need a consultant???)

Thank goodness I have my holiday to look forward to - flying off on Friday!

Oh ivvie

That's so unfair!

Can you complain to someone?
can you re-do the other test?
(sorry don't know what that one was).

Sending you (((((big hugz)))))

I thought this thread was supposed to be pinned to the top? ?:|

Hi all, have just spent the past hour reading this thread and have to say WELL DONE to everyone who has lost weight!

I just started WW myself 1 week ago and so far have lost 2 lbs (small but I guess every bit counts right). 😉

Lindi I have a question, how many points are in a southern comfort and diet coke? I had a look in the eating out book and it says spirits are 1 point and diet coke is 0 points but just wanted to double check.

ivvie sorry to hear about not getting the job, I was rooting for ya! Curse those stupid psychometric tests, they are such carp!

BTW Lindi or ivvie how do you get to become a leader? Do you get asked or is it when you reach your goal weight you can apply or something?

The shopping guide is great, now everytime I go shopping I'm always checking the points LOL :^O can't believe how many points some things have in them!

for Dark Angel and anyone else on WW:

I don't know how good at mental arithmetic you are, but you may find it handy to know the formula for working out WW points....

it's calories/70 plus sat fat/4

so for example if your food item has 140 cals and 2g of saturated fat, then the points = (140/70)+(2/4) = 2.5

I have got so used to working out points in my head over the years that they call me the walking WW calculator!! lol

By the way - can't help you with the Southern Comfort - but here's some points for Bacardi Breezers if it helps (standard sized 275ml bottles, not the stubby ones):

Watermelon 2.1
Peach 2.4
Orange 2.5
Lime 2.6
Pineapple 2.5
Lemon 2.6
Cranberry 2.3
Ruby Grapefruit 2.6
Diet varieties 1.4

I have wondered something about Slimming World.

When I did their 7 day strict plan I lost 8 1/2 lbs. On that plan you hardly eat anything (I was having weetabix for breakfast and 2 ready meals under 350 calories a day, plus an apple).

Yet on their normal plan you are told to eat as much as possible of the free foods. I am and yet am losing nothing now.

Why is that? Just curious :0)

*The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi Jay

I think the 7 day plan is a 1,000 calorie controlled one (rather than an actual SW one) hence it will give your weight loss a boost!

You may have come to a standstill because you are not having enough fibre.

Probably right on the fibre bit.

Any suggestions on how to improve it please?

Jay

ps this is brilliant - like having my own SW consultant on line - thanks Sparkle.:D

*The Nags head healthy eating group*

yes lol

Choose TWO selections (not just one, like you have been) from the B BOX selection, each & every day.

I don't have the book at the moment but from memory you can either have ...........EXTRA.......
another 2 weetabix
or
2 slices of wholemeal (not white) bread,
or
extra cheese portion
or
nuts (don't know amounts)
or
dried fruit
or
a banana
or
most high fibre cerials

please choose TWO lots of the above choices daily in total
(not just one)!!!
