Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

cha-ching *clinks glasses with Lily and sparkle*

How do you find the weekends? I tend to drink over the weekends and save up some bonus points during the week. I find it a lot harder to stay on track because I have free time and no real set agenda as opposed to when I am at work I have set times to eat etc.

I'm off to a barbi on Sunday, any tips on trying to stick to points?

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi - I'm actually the opposite, I find Sundays (only day off) really easy.

Saturday's are hellish (at 2nd job) as only get one break so have to pig at breakfast and then eat loads during lunch to keep me going.

At my main job, I tend to eat if I'm bored or p'd off (often).

BBQ - if it's somewhere else can be quite difficult. Try to go for chicken things rather than beef and have salad to bulk out a roll etc. Hopefully they'll have chicken kebabs with peppers, mushrooms etc which is a good choice.

If it's someone you know well, why not take along some low fat stuff to get done. Can make a real difference

sausages - thick low fat = 1.5, "normal" = 3.5
beefburgers low fat = 3, "normal" = 6

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi everyone
I don't do diets as such cos I can be quite fussy and basically I don't think they work anyway unless you're on them FOREVER and I know people who really do live like that but they're unhappy so what's the point. I have been trying to lose weight for the last month or so by drinking shapers slim drinks and eating more healthily, going for long walks etc. I did lose about half stone but my weight seems to fluctuate mainly because I have IBS and always look and feel bloated - sometimes when I get on the scales it looks like I've put the weight back on but don't see how, because I've been quite good and watching what I eat. I do frequently eat quite late though, which I know doesn't help. Any ideas or tips would be really appreciated. Thanks x

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi kitty,

You say you don't 'do' diets but is drinking slim drinks really not a diet? What happens when you stop drinking them? For most people when they come off diets they put the weight back on, plus more. If you have IBS maybe speack to your GP who could refer you to a dietician who in turn can draw up a healthy eating plan for you that won't make your IBS worse.

Do you drink a lot of water? Water is essential in losing weight. You don't mention what you eat, portion sizes make a big difference as well. If you find that you eat late have you maybe tried keeping healthy snacks to hand to fill you up? I used to eat late too and last week I haven't eaten past 7pm and lost 4 pounds.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Good morning everyone

Well it looks like my night out, is out the window tonight! 😞
Have only had 1hr sleep due to hubz & our 3yo son being up all night with a sickness bug.
I still don't feel 100% from the other day but as I am the best out of all three of us, I will stay home & take care of them.
(I couldn't go out anyway, knowing they are poorly)
Our 14mnth daughter seems fine, so that's great.
I still managed to have some buttered toast this morning (no PB=4 points)& I have 23 points left for later!

Hope you all have a great day/weekend
:-)

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi everyone - just back from my hols and am 4 lbs heavier than when I went away!! Oops! I don't mind though cos I had a great time and now I am back on those points and the exercise bike - I wonder how much I can shift between now and Tuesday morning when I get weighed?

Before I went away you may remember that I had an interview to become a ww leader and was rejected for failing the psychometric test. Well, I complained to ww head office and had a really great email from the Regional Manager explaining the situation. It turns out that I didn't fail the test at all! They used my test results (good) and the interview results (also good) and came to the conclusion that I am not exactly what they are looking for in a leader. Maybe something I said at interview? My hubby thinks its because the Area Manager didn't like me (cos I am quite intelligent, highly motivated and a whole lot nearer my goal weight than she is!) Anyway I feel much better for knowing that I did peform well but just didn't fit the picture of what they want in this area.

I plan to be at goal by the end of June and 7 lbs under goal (at the weight I would ideally like to be) by mid August!

My tip for sucessful weight loss - don't eat any of the bonus points you earn!

Good luck everyone!

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Thats such a shame about the job ivvie 😞
From your posts on here, i think you'd be a really helpful and motivating leader. Its their loss!

I joined WW 2 + 1/2 weeks ago and have lost 4lbs. I'm loving it 🙂
I agree with your tip about not eating your bonus points. I go to the gym and havent used any of mine, i think it defeats the purpose.

I'm enjoying using my banked points at the weekends though! I'm having a bottle of wine with my curry later 😉 (sharing with hubby mind)

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Kitty - I have Crohn's Disease so know all the problems related to dieting and tummy problems. My weight can vary 1/2 stone in a couple of days!

There are certain veggies I can't go near ever and ones I can eat when my CD is "stable" (luckily at the mo). IMHO you would be better following a healthy eating plan/diet rather than something like slimming drinks (I'm not 100% convinced that they're aren't full of additives etc which certainly won't help your IBS).

I actually find my tummy has been quite settled while on WW - yes there are days when I can't have veggie's which makes if difficult to "fill up" but generally I find it a good plan to follow and certainly feel a lot better in myself.

Sparkle - hope everyone feels better soon and you get a night out - big hugs from me.

Ivvie - sorry about the job, as has been said, their loss. Glad you had a great hol - you'll be more motivated to keep loosing weight now.

Totally agree with not using your bonus points. If you have 20 points a day and save up a few for the weekends, use them. If you exercise etc try to not use those points - it makes a big difference.

The weeks I've managed to get out of bed and walk to work I've lost 2.5lbs, average for other weeks is 1 - 1.5lbs.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Welcome back ivvie & thanks for the good wishes Lily:-)

Little Joshy seems to be on the mend, hubs is still rough though!
I have cancelled my night out as I still don't feel right either!
I'm not as bad as them & have managed to have around 19 points today (lol) on toast & tuna sarnies & an aero! (eeek!). I have to be really bad, not to eat lol.
I have 8 point's left for dinner but we can't think of anything to have at the mo' that will be ok.
I'm sure we'l think of something.
Have a good evening everyone & i'l see yas tomorrow with my next update.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi Dark Angel

Yes of course drinking the slim drinks is a diet. I usually get them for one or maybe two weeks to help kick start me into getting used to eating less and cutting out fat, calories etc. I then try to eat more healthily and get some sort of exercise regime on the go - although it usually doesn't last for that long! I do try and drink lots of water, at least 2 or 3 small bottles a day. With this hot weather I find it easy and probably drink a lot more but I know there are times when I find I can't drink it as much as I should. My diet mainly consists of chicken, rice, salads, veg, so that isn't bad. I probably eat too much bread, I like cod but it has to be the one's which are in batter, I do indulge myself in steak and 'real' chips once a week, apart from that if I do fancy chips they'll be oven ones. I absloutely LOVE chocolate but have cut down on that considerably so that's not too much of a problem, same with crisps, I only have them now and again. I think if I'm honest that I could cut down on my portion sizes - they're not enormous but I know that smaller would help.
My doctor hasn't been a great help with IBS, I'm seeing him next week though and will mention seeing a dietician. As I said I DO eat late mainly cos I'm up late and if I eat early I find myself starving. That I know is my main problem but I'm finding it hard to change it and the longer it goes on the more despairing I get. I've promised myself next week I'm going to try harder. Watch this space!! 🙂

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi lily lass
Glad to hear that your C.D is ok at the mo. I don't know a great deal about it but when I have searched for info on IBS, C.D is always mentioned somewhere as certain symptons are similar. There are certain things I have to be careful of - sometimes eating too much bread can bring on an attack, certain vegs etc. I used to love drinking Ribena but too much used to bring on an attack. I try to avoid coffee and alcohol when having attacks too. I think my biggest problem that brings on an attack is stress which is hard to avoid. I just hate the bloatedness I get and uncomfotable tight feeling trying to put on my jeans or trousers, which I knew fitted me ok when I wasn't having an attack.
I tried on a dress weeks ago that I had bought last summer and was sure that it looked and fitted great. I was so looking forward to the weather getting warmer and wearing it again. I treid it on a few days ago (while in the middle of an awful attack) and it looked disgusting and tight around my belly. I also tried on a few other things and felt really fat and horrible. I got a bit upset cos I've been trying to lose weight and although it is slow, I have lost a few pounds so couldn't understand it. I came downstairs, switched on the pc and went looking for info on weight and IBS. I've always said that I felt bigger when having an attack but wasn't really sure if I was just using that as an excuse. I went onto a couple of sites that said weight can fluctuate daily which made me feel better in one respect but also made me feel hopeless in another - if that makes sense? I'm going to do the docs next week to see if he can help with this but not holding out too much hope as I don't find him that understanding. Anyway fingers crossed.:-)

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Good morning all

I went over yesterday by 4 points.:-(
Had a couple of boiled egg sarnies & a bowl of shreddies (12).
It was a real pickky day, rather than proper meals so today I will make up for it.
Just had some more shreddies (3) so have 20 points left for the rest of today.
Have taken out some lamb chops & will have them with new potatoes & veg' (don't fancy a full on roast today lol), honest!
Saved points already see? lol

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi Sparkle - hope everyone's feeling a bit better today.

Kitty - if your doctor can refer you to a dietician that would be great. Also ask him if he knows of any IBS support groups in your area as it does help to be able to talk to other people to know it's not just you.

I understand what you say about eating late and I used to be a huge culprit (have 2 jobs and often not in until 9:30, shower, make tea etc & eat at 11 - 12).

When I first tried to eat earlier I was starving, especially the next day. I've found that by eating dinner around 7 - 8 helps my digestion (not going to be when I've just eaten) - I try to keep some points and usually have crumpets & jam or similar about 11 to ward off hunger both that night and the next day.

It might be worth trying for a couple of weeks and see if it does have any impact on your IBS.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Thanks Lily

They are both up & almost running today.
Hubs reckons it was the t£$co cumberland sausages we had on friday & never wants sausages from there again!
Must admit they were a bit strange, cooked 'em for ages & they wouldn't go brown!
Spoke to someone else over the weekend who had the same happen, with the same one's! Hmmmm
Good job I only had the one!
Gonna whizz round & do the housework in a minute to help with the loss this week lol.
Not hungry at the mo' must admit shreddies are much more filling than PB on toast lol.
See yas all later & thanks again for the well wishes
:-)

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Just checking in with my total today & I had exactly 23 points!
I have 54.5 points left now 'till weigh in on tuesday night.
That gives me 27 in the bank for the morning!
I had 5 mini profiteroles today for pud' but had hardly any chokky sauce (honest! lol).
Have done loads of physical stuff today including the housework & setting up the pool for the kiddies!
Couldn't refrain any longer as we have some lovely weather coming this week!

see yas soon B-)

Hi Everyone

Had a pretty good weekend - 18 points yesterday and only 14 today (not been hungry which is unusual!).

12 points under for the week so I'd better loose on Tuesday!

Morning all 🙂

Weigh-in tonight so feeling a bit nervous! Weekend was ok, I only went 1 point over on Saturday but did kind of eat late last night so I hope that that doesn't affect today's WI result!

I always eat light on WI days, anyone else? Damage limitation I guess :^O

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Good morning everyone, have had a really busy week. Went to WW meeting last Wednesday and stayed the same, disappointed as I wanted to lose 1lb that I had gained the week before. Then this week I had a wedding on Friday and an 18th birthday party on Saturday, so you can imagine the damage I have done. Also took my nephew to see Harry Potter on Sunday and ate loads of popcorn just to top it all off. Back to being strict this week, going to try and stay at 18 points to give myself a boost. Also went over on my ankle again on Saturday and it's sore when I am trying to walk.

Good to see you back Ivvie and as everyone says it is definitely their loss!!!

Hope everyone else is doing better than I am!

Darkangel, I always eat light on WI days, my meeting is at 6.30pm and I only have breakfast and lunch, leave dinner until I come back!! If I have a good loss I treat myself to a Sirloin (and salad of course).
